Siri’s privacy overhaul
Apple is reportedly planning a major overhaul of its Siri assistant to be unveiled at the Worldwide Developers Conference in June, with Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman saying the new version will emphasize user privacy.

Gemini integration and stakes
Multiple reports tie Apple’s next Siri to Google Gemini, with the Bitcoin World account saying the standalone Siri app will be powered by Google Gemini and that Apple’s approach could raise questions about how much control Apple truly has over data security.

The Guardian’s framing of European oversight is not part of this technology coverage, but the Siri reporting repeatedly returns to privacy as the differentiator, including the claim that Gurman expects Apple to emphasize privacy as a way to reestablish relevance in artificial intelligence.
Engadget adds that Gurman reported Apple takes a restrictive approach to train its AI, using synthetic data generation instead of real user data, and that automatically deleting chatlogs comes with a serious downside because most LLMs prefer swallowing up as much personal data from chats as possible.
