Jenkins said they made a mistake earlier on the program and inadvertently aired video from an older dignified transfer instead of the ceremony that took place yesterday.

He said the network deeply regretted the air and extended respect and condolences to the service members' families.

Jenkins said the network honored the sacrifice of the six American heroes.

The article states the service members were killed in Iran, while Jenkins' on-air description referred to them as killed in Kuwait, a contradiction noted in the article.

The broadcast error involved Fox airing older footage in which Trump appeared without a hat.

Critics rejected Fox's explanation as insincere and accused the network of intentionally avoiding footage of Trump wearing his campaign hat.

Ron Fillipkowski posted that Fox's apology was 'bs' and that the network's claim the error was inadvertent was a lie.

He added that Fox aired old footage because it did not want to show Trump wearing his campaign hat during the ceremony and that the network still did not show the correct footage in its statement.

Mehdi Hasan posted that if any other network had done this it would be a huge scandal, with Fox typically leading the chorus of criticisms and faux-outrage and people losing their jobs.

He added that this was not the case at Fox, which he called not a news network but a state propaganda channel.
