The fleet consisted of about 70 boats carrying approximately 1,000 volunteers from around 70 countries.

The launch was witnessed by a large public gathering in Barcelona, where people waved Palestinian flags and chanted Free Palestine.

Organizers emphasized that the initiative was not merely a sea voyage but an ethical and political message that the blockade must end.

The launch came amid rising international solidarity with Gaza.

The blockade has been in place since October 7, 2023, and has been described by Amnesty International as an illegal siege.

The previous voyage from Barcelona in September 2025 involved 42 boats, all of whom were intercepted and arrested by the Israeli navy.

Organizers expressed concerns about possible Israeli reactions, but stressed the importance of the humanitarian message.

Morocco participated in the Global Flotilla of Resilience with two ships.
