ILPS Hails Iran-US MoU Lifting Sanctions, Creating $300 Billion Reconstruction Fund

In the ILPS statement released on Saturday, the group said the agreement includes “the lifting of all sanctions on Iran,” a “$300 billion reconstruction fund,” and a commitment to respect Lebanon's sovereignty.

The ILPS also portrayed the MoU as forcing the US to end its “war of aggression,” arguing that “the war of attrition proved too costly for US imperialism.”

The League connected its reading of the balance of power to Iran’s military strikes destabilizing the Gulf Cooperation Council and to Hezbollah inflicting “severe losses on occupation forces in South Lebanon.”

Even while praising the agreement, the ILPS issued a call for vigilance, citing ongoing “Zionist aggression against Lebanon” and “delays in US-Iran talks” as reasons it expected possible violations of the MoU.

The ILPS warned that the MoU could be undermined by “likely violations of the MoU,” while also arguing that “US imperialism is in sharpening contradiction with the Zionist entity.”

The League said it was watching tensions at the G7, describing a scenario in which the US sought to end the war to “salvage profits” while the “entity grows more aggressive in its ‘death throes’.”

To the ILPS, the immediate stakes were not only the Iran-US agreement but also the continued conflict dynamics in South Lebanon, where it claimed Hezbollah “shattering aspirations for a ‘Greater Israel’.”

The ILPS concluded by calling on its member organizations to “mobilize masses worldwide,” “expose US imperialism and Zionist fascism as the primary cause of global ills,” and “consolidate ranks towards the ultimate goal of toppling imperialism and all reactionary forces.”
