The Health Ministry said an Israeli airstrike on the southern village of Saksakiyeh killed at least seven, including a child, and wounded 15, and it said the victims were counted as an initial tally.

The Associated Press reported that two of the Saturday strikes took place on the highway linking Beirut with the southern port city of Sidon, while the third happened on a road leading to Lebanon’s Chouf region, killing three.
In the city of Nabatiyeh, the Health Ministry said three Israeli drone strikes killed a Syrian man riding a motorcycle with his 12-year-old daughter, and it said the girl later died in a hospital after being hit again by the drone.
The Arab Weekly said Lebanon’s health ministry reported 74 people had been killed by Israeli strikes in the last three days despite a truce announced last month in fighting between Hezbollah and the Israeli military.
Lebanon urges US pressure
Ahead of talks, Lebanon’s president urged the United States to put pressure on Israel to cease fire and stop home demolitions in south Lebanon, according to the presidency.
The Arab Weekly reported that Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, in a meeting with US Ambassador to Lebanon Michel Issa, “stressed … the necessity of pressure on Israel to halt fire and military operations and the destruction and bulldozing of homes”.

The Arab Weekly also said the US will facilitate a third round of talks in Washington on May 14 and 15, with Lebanon’s delegation headed by former ambassador to Washington Simon Karam.
The PBS report said a 10-day ceasefire declared in Washington went into effect on April 17 and was later extended by three weeks, while it said both Israel and Hezbollah continued daily attacks despite the truce.
In the PBS account, Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health denounced “this barbaric targeting and the deliberate violence against civilians and children in Lebanon,” and said the strike marked an ongoing series “of grave violations of International Humanitarian Law.”
Casualties, displacement, and talks
The Arab Weekly said Lebanon’s health ministry spokesperson put the death toll since Saturday in various Israeli strikes, and it said 2,869 people had been killed since March 2, including 584 medics, women and minors.
“BEIRUT Lebanon’s president has urged the United States to put pressure on Israel to cease fire and stop home demolitions in south Lebanon, the presidency said on Monday, as the death toll from Israeli attacks rose”
It also said Israel says 17 of its soldiers have been killed in southern Lebanon, along with two civilians in northern Israel, and it reported that some 1.2 million people have been driven from their homes in Lebanon, many fleeing from the south.
The PBS report described a new round of talks scheduled to take place in Washington over two days starting Thursday, and it said the ceasefire was reached after a 10-day ceasefire declared in Washington went into effect on April 17.
The Arab Weekly said Hezbollah has demanded the government cancel the talks, and it reported that Beirut’s decision to hold face-to-face contacts with Israel showed a deep divide in Lebanon over Hezbollah’s arsenal and its decision to attack Israel.
In the PBS account, Lebanon’s Prime Minister Nawaf Salam held talks in Damascus with Syria’s interim President Ahmad al-Sharaa, and Salam said Lebanon will not be used again to harm “our Arab brothers, on top of them Syria.”
