Israeli Drone Strikes Kill Syrian Man and 12-Year-Old Daughter in Nabatieh

The Times of Israel said a Syrian man and his 12-year-old daughter were killed in Israeli drone strikes in southern Lebanon, with Lebanon’s National News Agency citing a health ministry statement that the pair were riding a motorcycle when they were targeted in Nabatieh.

The Times of Israel reported that the first drone strike did not hit the pair, while a second killed the father, and the daughter moved around 100 meters away before she was targeted in a third strike.

The Times of Israel added that the girl was taken to a hospital in serious condition, where she succumbed to her wounds, and that the IDF said it was looking into the report.

NBC News said Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon killed at least five people Friday, while Hezbollah fired rockets toward northern Israel without inflicting any casualties.

NBC News reported that the Lebanese state-run National News Agency said another airstrike near the southeastern village of Kfar Chouba killed a paramedic with the Lebanese Civil Defense.

Al Jazeera said the Lebanese health ministry stated that an Israeli air strike killed four people, including two women, and injured eight others in the town of Toura in Tyre district on Friday.

Al Jazeera also reported that Avichay Adraee, the Israeli army’s Arabic-language spokesperson, said residents of the towns and villages of Nmairiyeh, Tayr Felsay, Hallousiyyeh, Upper Hallousiyyeh, Toura and Maarakeh were asked to leave as it issued new forced evacuation orders for southern Lebanon.

Al Jazeera said planned talks between Israel and Lebanon would include a second stage expected to be held in Washington on May 14 and 15, with the US Department of State saying it would mediate the talks and “build a framework for lasting peace and security arrangements”.

Al Jazeera quoted Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam saying Beirut wants to “solidify” the ceasefire ahead of the next round of negotiations with Israel.

The Today Al-Sabaa (اليوم السابع) report said Israeli occupation forces carried out the first airstrike on the southern suburb of Beirut since the ceasefire took effect on April 17, targeting the commander of the Radwan Force, Malik Balout.

The Today Al-Sabaa report said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told residents that “No one is above the law, and Israel's long arm will reach every enemy and killer.”

The Today Al-Sabaa report said the Lebanese Health Ministry’s latest statement put the number of dead and wounded from the Israeli aggression on Lebanon since March 2 at 2,715 dead and 8,353 injured.

The Times of Israel said the IDF earlier issued evacuation warnings for both villages of Burj Rahal and Aabbasiyyeh, along with seven others, after Lebanese media reported three dead in Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon.

The Times of Israel reported that Lebanon’s National News Agency said the strike hit a car on a road between the towns of Burj Rahal and Aabbasiyyeh, and that the IDF was looking into the report.
