WAFA reported that Israeli occupation police published a recruitment advertisement calling for volunteers to join the so-called "Temple Mount Unit" responsible for securing the colonists' incursions into the Al-Aqsa Mosque and imposing measures against worshipers.

WAFA added that several rabbis affiliated with extremist "Temple" groups participated in the promotional campaign alongside Israeli police officers, framing the recruitment as part of a broader effort to consolidate occupation’s control over Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Flag-Raising Incursions

Al Jazeera Net reported that with the arrival of what it calls Israel's Independence Day, calls for wide-scale incursions accompanied by raising the Israeli flag at the First Qiblah have resurfaced.

It said a campaign was launched on the pages of extremist groups on social media—most notably the Beidenu organization—with a link inviting settlers to join mass incursions and raise the Israeli flag tomorrow, Wednesday, April 22 of this year.

Al Jazeera Net cited the Islamic Endowments Department in Jerusalem saying 515 settlers stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque on Israel's Independence Day in 2025, 526 in 2024, and 474 on this occasion in 2023.

The outlet also described police protection for intruders and said the incursions and violations were facilitated under direct orders from Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir.

Control, Worship Restrictions

WAFA said the recruitment campaign reflects a broader effort to consolidate occupation’s control over Al-Aqsa Mosque, provide protection for colonizers’ incursions, and perform rituals inside its courtyards.

It framed the move as coming amid escalation of violations against Al-Aqsa Mosque, including tightening restrictions on worshipers and allowing colonizers’ incursions and the performance of collective rituals inside its courtyards.

Haaretz described Israel Police cooperation with far-right activists who encourage Jewish visits to the site as part of the recruitment effort for officers from among them.

Al Jazeera Net said Temple Mount groups aim to advance steps toward dominating Al-Aqsa by isolating it from Muslims in Jerusalem, the West Bank, and the 1948 territories, while also linking the mosque to Israeli religious and national occasions.
