The Manhattan District Attorney's Office launched an investigation into Rep. Eric Swalwell over a sexual assault allegation from a former staffer.

The woman alleges that after a night of drinking with Swalwell in New York City in April 2024, she woke up in a hotel bed to him having sex with her.

Swalwell has denied the claims, calling them 'false' and 'lies.'

The investigation comes as Swalwell faces mounting pressure from Democrats to drop out of the governor's race.

The DA's office urged survivors to contact their Special Victims Division, stating they are well-equipped to help in a trauma-informed, survivor-centered manner.

Multiple women came forward with allegations of sexual misconduct ranging from harassment to non-consensual encounters.
