Occupation forces bulldoze land southeast of Bethlehem

BETHLEHEM, March 11, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces began bulldozing land in the town of Tuqu', southeast of Bethlehem, on Wednesday.

The head of the Tuqu' Municipal Council, Tayseer Abu Mufreh, told a WAFA correspondent about the bulldozing.

Abu Mufreh said the forces started bulldozing land in the "Al-Arbidat" area to the north.

He said this action is part of completing the colonial road that was recently constructed in the eastern part of the town.

He warned the road will connect to the road leading to the "Tekoa A" colony, which is built on Palestinian-owned land.

He said the measure will lead to the confiscation of thousands of dunams planted with olive trees.

He said it will sever the town center from the surrounding countryside of Tuqu' and prevent residents from accessing their land in the eastern part of the town.

Abu Mufreh added that the road poses a significant risk to residents' lives because it is located only meters away from their homes.

He appealed to humanitarian organizations and the international community to intervene to stop this arbitrary action.

He said the action would negatively affect daily lives and threaten residents' presence in the region.
