- RTA's initiative expands an integrated, digitally powered public transport network for Dubai.
Dubai’s first smart hub
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) opened the Mall of the Emirates Smart Bus Station, described as Dubai’s first smart bus station, and said it marks a step toward an integrated public transport network powered by digital technologies and smart solutions.
“The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai inaugurated the Mall of the Emirates Smart Bus Station, the first of its kind in the emirate”
The station serves 11 bus routes and is directly connected to the Mall of the Emirates Metro Station, while Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority said it delivers customer services through 24/7 interactive and proactive digital services.

The station spans 147 square metres and can accommodate 20 customers at a time, with a dedicated rest area for drivers, according to the Dubai Media Office description of the opening.
RTA’s project also includes AI-powered cameras to monitor crowd movement and screens that display bus arrival times, alongside a smart kiosk and digital systems for customer services.
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority said the station is fitted with solar panels for power generation and smart sensors to monitor air quality, aligning the hub with sustainability goals.
AI cameras and 24/7 services
Khaleej Times said the new hub is fully digitised, with all customer services available 24/7 through interactive systems, and it described real-time digital displays for bus and metro arrival times, taxi availability, station maps, and nearby landmarks.
In the same account, Mattar Al Tayer, Director General, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the RTA, said, "The station also incorporates advanced systems for crowd management and violation detection through AI-powered cameras, further enhancing safety and ensuring a smoother user experience," as the station was unveiled at Mall of the Emirates.

The Government of Dubai Media Office said the station’s smart kiosk provides digital customer services including a virtual assistant for journey planning and responding to customer enquiries, as well as Lost and Found services and direct access to the Call Centre.
It also said the station’s primary real-time information display is directly integrated with Dubai Metro to show train arrival times and with taxi services to provide instant information on taxi stand locations and availability.
Gulf News described the station as combining artificial intelligence, sustainability and round-the-clock digital services, and said it uses AI-powered crowd monitoring cameras and real-time occupancy tracking alongside digital kiosks and solar-powered operations.
Routes, connections, and what’s next
The station’s connectivity is central to how Dubai’s RTA positioned the project, with Khaleej Times listing 11 bus routes and naming areas including Al Barsha, Jumeirah Village Circle, Arabian Ranches, Dubai Science Park, Dubai Studio City, Dubai Miracle Garden and Global Village.
“Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has opened Mall of the Emirates Smart Bus Station, Dubai’s first smart bus station, marking a step change in RTA’s drive to develop an integrated public transport network powered by digital technologies and smart solutions, enhancing customer service and cementing Dubai’s standing as a global leader in sustainable mobility”
The Government of Dubai Media Office said the station will serve 11 bus routes and is directly connected to Mall of the Emirates Metro Station, and it added that RTA will scale up the model in future to further integrate Dubai’s public transport network and provide smart, sustainable mobility solutions.
Gulf News said the station serves 11 bus routes linking key residential, commercial and tourism districts across Dubai, and it described the hub as designed to make commuting faster, safer and more convenient for residents and visitors.
The Times of India said the station currently serves 11 routes including six Metro feeder buses, three internal routes and two seasonal routes, and it described the station as directly connecting with the Mall of the Emirates Metro Station on the Red Line.
In addition to the station’s digital features, The Times of India said passengers can track buses in real time using the RTA’s S’hail app, digital station displays and AI-powered information systems inside the smart station.
