UNSC meeting after incursion
The UN Security Council will hold a meeting on Lebanon on Monday after France requested urgent international attention to Israel’s ongoing military operations in the country, according to diplomatic sources told Anadolu.
“A phone call took place between the Speaker of Parliament, Mr”
The Express Tribune reported that Egypt urged the UNSC to halt Israel’s escalation and ground incursions in Lebanon, warning that the continued assault risks plunging the region into further instability.

Egypt’s Foreign Ministry condemned Israel’s “continued aggression” against Lebanon and its expansion of ground operations in the country’s south, and it said the expansion constitutes “a complete violation of Lebanese sovereignty.”
The call came hours after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced in a recorded speech that Israeli forces had taken control of the strategic Beaufort Castle, known in Arabic as Qalaat al-Shaqif, in southern Lebanon, in the deepest incursion in more than two decades.
Macron backs Lebanon
French President Emmanuel Macron said “nothing justifies” the ongoing escalation in southern Lebanon, adding that France would continue its support for the Lebanese authorities in their efforts to restore state sovereignty and the country’s territorial integrity.
The Express Tribune said Lebanon’s foreign ministry reported early Sunday that French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot informed his Lebanese counterpart Youssef Raggi that Paris would seek an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council in response to the latest Israeli escalation in Lebanon.

In a separate account, Al-Manar TV Lebanon said a phone call took place between Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri and Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Badr Abdelatty, where Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s keenness on stability and stressed the need for the complete withdrawal of the Israeli enemy from South Lebanon.
Al-Manar TV Lebanon also quoted Berri reiterating the necessity of avoiding sedition in Lebanon and the keenness to exert every effort to safeguard and preserve stability and civil peace.
Withdrawal and state authority
Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s support for Lebanon and called for the immediate and complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from all Lebanese territory, according to a statement from Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Middle East Monitor reported that Abdelatty made the remarks during a telephone conversation with Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, and he stressed that any violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty, unity or territorial integrity constitutes a breach of international law and of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701.
Al-Manar TV Lebanon said Abdelatty linked stability to the deployment of the Lebanese Army, affirming that the complete Israeli withdrawal is the key to stability in Lebanon.
The Express Tribune added that Egypt called for an “immediate and complete Israeli withdrawal from all Lebanese territory,” warning that the continued expansion of military operations could trigger a broader deterioration in the security situation.
