The violence began overnight when one person was killed and another seriously injured by gunfire in the central region Arab Israeli city of Taibe, according to a statement from Israel Police.

Hours later, a second car explosion in Holon, just south of Jaffa, killed a man of about 30, first responders said.

In central Israel’s Taibeh and Kalansua, three other people were fatally shot, bringing the total number of people killed in Israel since the start of 2026 to 166, Haaretz reported.

Police said the Jaffa car bombing was an organized crime killing and that the car traveled some 100 meters before the explosion happened, with bomb experts determining that about half a kilogram of explosives was placed under the vehicle, Times of Israel reported.

Accounts and political blame

Ynet identified one of the Jaffa victims as Bakhar Nuseirat, 19, and said he was shot at the entrance to his home, the same spot where his cousin had previously been gunned down.

The Times of Israel reported that Nuseirat was arrested in 2025 on suspicion that he hired a hitman in connection with a homicide case in which his cousin, Moatasem Nuseirat, was killed over a land dispute, and that he was released due to a lack of evidence.

The Abraham Initiatives figures cited by The Times of Israel said at least 141 members of the Arab community have been killed in homicides since the start of the year, compared with 120 during the same period last year.

The Times of Israel also said many in the community blame far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir for inaction while in office, and that Ben Gvir, who is responsible for the police, did not make an immediate comment on the weekend deaths.

In Haaretz’s account, a 38-year-old man was killed Sunday morning and a six-year-old moderately wounded in a car explosion in central Jaffa, while three other people were fatally shot in Taibeh and Kalansua.

Iran strike context and injuries

Separate from the Sunday crime incidents, Israeli emergency services tallied at least six people slightly injured after firing of one or more Iranian missiles, with the incident occurring in Kfar Qasim, east of Tel Aviv, Jean-Marc Morandini reported.

The Magen David Adom (MDA) announcement cited by Morandini said the victims were “slightly affected,” and that they were evacuated to hospitals in the center of the country.

Morandini also said MDA treated on site “several people who had a panic attack,” and that after a lull of nearly 14 hours, Israel was struck twice Thursday morning by missiles fired from Iran, the Israeli army said.

Le Tribunal du Net described how, on the morning of Thursday, March 26, several volleys of missiles fired from Iran targeted Israel after a lull of about fourteen hours, with Kafr Qasim, east of Tel Aviv, hit.

Euronews reported that in a later incident as Iran launched a new salvo of projectiles toward central Israel, air-raid sirens were active across the region and at least five people inside an affected house were slightly injured and transported to a hospital.
