West Bank and Gaza deaths

“Israeli forces have killed at least two Palestinians in separate shooting incidents in the occupied West Bank and the Gaza Strip”
Al Jazeera reports that al-Khatib was killed after Israeli forces stormed his home and shot him dead, and it says relatives told Anadolu that he had returned from Jordan two years ago to work and had no known security or armed group affiliation.

The Palestinian Prisoner’s Society said Israeli forces killed Mohammed Nazem Zayed, 29, from Jenin, after soldiers surrounded a house in the town of Ya’bad, west of Jenin, before shooting him directly and subsequently withholding his body.
In Gaza, Al Jazeera says Israeli attacks continued despite a so-called “ceasefire” agreed in October, and it reports that a drone strike hit a group of pedestrians near the Italian Complex in Gaza City’s Nassr neighbourhood, wounding two people, one critically.
Condemnations and competing frames
Al Jazeera quotes al-Khatib’s uncle Yassin Khatib describing the killing as a “cold-blooded execution,” adding that Israeli forces forced their way in without giving him time even to open the door or get dressed.
The Palestinian Prisoner’s Society, as carried by WAFA, affirmed that the killings of Zayed and al-Khatib “constitute an extension of the systematic policy of extrajudicial killings pursued by Israeli forces”.

In Gaza, Al Jazeera says Gaza’s Health Ministry put the toll from Israeli violations of the ceasefire at 1,031 Palestinians killed and 3309 injured, and it also reports that more than 73,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since Israel’s genocidal war began in October 2023.
Al Jazeera also reports that the Israeli military told AFP its troops had fired at someone “throwing objects” at soldiers during a raid in the area, placing the incident within a dispute over what triggered the shooting.
Detention, civil society, and law
The Guardian reports that Israeli forces arrested a prominent 71-year-old Palestinian physician known as the “doctor of the poor,” Dr Mazen Al-Rantisi, in the al-Tira neighbourhood of Ramallah and later took him to the police station in the Israeli settlement of Ma’ale Adumim.
“Israeli forces continue to commit genocide against Palestinians by deliberately targeting children in the Gaza Strip, an independent United Nations Commission of Inquiry has found”
The Guardian quotes Naji Abbas, the director of the Prisoners and Detainees department at Physicians for Human Rights Israel (PHRI), saying, “The arrest of Dr Al-Rantisi is another alarming escalation in Israel’s crackdown on Palestinian civil society,” and it adds that PHRI said the detention would disrupt access to medical care for those who depend on him.
UN News says that between October 2023 and mid-December 2025, 289 journalists have lost their lives during Israeli military operations in Gaza, and it adds that repression is intensifying with the arrest of more than 200 Palestinian journalists.
UN News also quotes Ajith Sunghay, head of the office, saying, “These abuses sow fear and despair and deprive Palestinians of any means to tell the world the reality of their lives,” while it reports that 41 Palestinian journalists were still detained as of 31 October 2025.
