Israeli Forces Kill Mustafa Taha Mustafa Al-Khatib in Salfit After Home Storming

Israeli forces killed Mustafa Taha Mustafa al-Khatib in Salfit after storming his home and shooting him dead, according to the Palestinian health ministry and local sources cited by Al Jazeera.

The Palestinian Prisoner’s Society said Israeli forces left al-Khatib’s body inside the house after ransacking it, and it also described a separate killing of Mohammed Nazem Zayed in the Jenin-area town of Ya’bad, west of Jenin.

In the West Bank village of Sarta, a relative told the Los Angeles Times that Israeli troops shot and killed a Palestinian man inside his home, and the Israeli military confirmed the shooting and said the man had thrown objects at the soldiers.

The Los Angeles Times reported that Mustafa Al-Khatib, 32, was found dead in his bedroom in Sarta, about 32 kilometers (20 miles) north of Jerusalem, after soldiers broke through the front door.

Al Jazeera also said Israeli troops prevented ambulances from reaching al-Khatib for nearly two hours after the shooting, while the Israeli military told AFP it fired at someone “throwing objects” during a raid in the area.

Al Jazeera quoted al-Khatib’s uncle, Yassin Khatib, describing the killing as a “cold-blooded execution,” and he said the broken door and damaged contents showed Israeli forces forced their way in without giving al-Khatib time to open the door or get dressed.

In the same Al Jazeera report, the Israeli military told AFP its troops had fired at someone “throwing objects” at soldiers during a raid in the area.

The Los Angeles Times added that Israeli soldiers fired warning shots before aiming at the man, and it said video footage showed ransacked cupboards and bloodstains on the floor.

Al Jazeera reported that the Palestinian health ministry said al-Khatib’s death brought the number of Palestinians killed in the West Bank since the beginning of the year to 72, including 17 children, five women, and two elderly people.

The Palestinian Prisoners Society, in a separate statement carried by Arab News PK, affirmed that the killings it described constitute an extension of a “systematic policy of extrajudicial killings pursued by Israeli forces” since the start of the war in the Gaza Strip.

Al Jazeera said Israeli attacks have not ceased in Gaza despite a so-called “ceasefire” agreed in October, reporting that in northern Gaza one Palestinian was killed after Israeli troops opened fire in the al-Atatra area of Beit Lahiya on Thursday.

The report said a separate drone strike hit a group of pedestrians near the Italian Complex in Gaza City’s Nassr neighbourhood, wounding two people, one critically, and it cited Gaza’s Health Ministry saying Israeli violations of the ceasefire that took effect on October 10, 2025 have already killed 1,031 Palestinians and injured 3309 others.

Al Jazeera also stated that, in total since Israel’s genocidal war began in October 2023, more than 73,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza.

In the West Bank, Arab News PK reported that the Palestinian Prisoners Society said documented cases in recent months indicate some Palestinians were killed after being detained and brought under Israeli control, citing restraint marks on the bodies of some deceased detainees.

The Los Angeles Times framed the immediate incident in Sarta as an Israeli operation in which the Israeli military said it was operating when a man started to throw objects at the soldiers, while the Palestinian Health Ministry in Ramallah said Al-Khatib’s death brought the number of Palestinians killed in the West Bank to 72 since the beginning of the year.
