Drones, Injuries, Evacuation
Hezbollah drone attacks in southern Lebanon and northern Israel continued despite a ceasefire, with the IDF confirming that three Israel Defense Forces soldiers were lightly wounded by a Hezbollah suicide drone in Southern Lebanon on Monday.
“Israeli attacks across Lebanon have killed at least 24 people despite a United States-brokered ceasefire, now in its third week”
The IDF said an Israeli Air Force helicopter sent to rescue the injured “landed in the extraction area with no ability to take off due to a technical error,” before a second helicopter evacuated the soldiers for treatment in Israel.

In northern Israel, the IDF said an explosive-laden drone attack killed IDF reservist Warrant Officer (res.) Alexander Glovanyov, 47, near Manara close to the border with Lebanon around 4 p.m. on Sunday.
The Times of Israel reported that hours later the IDF issued evacuation warnings for nine villages in southern Lebanon—Rihan, Jarjouaa, Kfar Roummane, Nmairiyeh, Arab Salim, Jmaijmeh, Mashgharah, Qellaya, and Harouf—ordering residents to evacuate at least a kilometer away.
Lebanon’s health ministry also reported that a Syrian man and his 12-year-old daughter were killed by Israeli drone strikes while riding a motorcycle in Nabatieh, according to The Times of Israel.
Official Threats and Claims
In its warning to residents, the IDF said, “In light of the Hezbollah terror organization’s violations of the ceasefire agreement, the IDF is forced to act against it with force and does not intend to harm you,” as it continued strikes and drone activity.
The Times of Israel reported that Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam said in an interview published Monday by Saudi Arabia’s Al Arabiya, “we support peace, but this peace has conditions,” while describing Lebanon’s preliminary talks with Israel in Washington, D.C.

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused Hezbollah on April 26 of “essentially disintegrating” the temporary ceasefire through ongoing attacks, while saying, “We are acting vigorously according to the rules we agreed upon with the United States, and incidentally, with Lebanon as well,” according to JNS.org.
Al Jazeera reported that Israeli attacks across Lebanon killed at least 24 people despite a United States-brokered ceasefire in its third week, citing Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health and listing deaths in multiple southern towns.
The Jerusalem Post’s live updates also framed the broader conflict around Israel and the US launching Operations Roaring Lion and Epic Fury on February 28, with a ceasefire announced on April 7 and going into effect on April 8.
What’s at Stake Next
The IDF’s actions in Lebanon were tied to the status of the ceasefire and the ongoing drone threat, with the IDF issuing evacuation orders for villages in southern Lebanon and continuing to describe Hezbollah’s violations as the basis for force.
In Washington, D.C., Al Jazeera reported that the US announced it would mediate a second round of negotiations between Israel and Lebanon on May 14 and 15, while Lebanon’s authorities demanded that Israeli forces cease strikes before any talks.
The Times of Israel reported that Lebanon’s demands include a ceasefire, a full Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory, and the release of Lebanese prisoners held in Israeli prisons who were detained during the fighting in Lebanon.
On the ground, Al Jazeera said the intensified attacks came as “the death toll from Israel’s ‘violent strikes’ throughout the day ‘keeps rising’,” and it cited that since April 16 Israeli forces have killed nearly 500 people and brought the overall death toll since Israel’s invasion and bombardment of Lebanon began on March 2 to more than 2,750 people.
Meanwhile, JNS.org said Hezbollah began firing rockets and drones at Israel on March 2 following the targeted killing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in the opening strikes of Israel’s “Operation Roaring Lion” on Feb. 28, placing the Lebanon front within a wider regional escalation.
