India funds UNRWA
The Government of India released USD 2.5 million to the UN Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA), according to the Representative Office of India to Palestine.

WAFA said the contribution was provided as part of India’s annual contribution of US $5 million for the year 2026-27 to support UNRWA’s core programmes and services, including education, healthcare and relief efforts provided to Palestinian refugees.
WAFA reported that during her participation at the UNRWA ADCOM meeting held today in Amman, Representative of India to the State of Palestine Mahima Sikand underlined India’s continued support for the Agency’s services to Palestinian refugees.
WAFA added that Sikand handed over the contribution to the Agency’s Director of Partnerships, Karim Amer, at the meeting in Amman.
Meeting in Amman
WAFA said the UNRWA ADCOM meeting took place today in Amman, where Mahima Sikand participated on behalf of India.
The report said Sikand handed over the contribution to UNRWA’s Director of Partnerships, Karim Amer, during the meeting.

WAFA quoted Amer expressing appreciation to the Government of India for its continued support for the Agency.
WAFA said Amer described India as "the top emerging donor for the Agency over the past three years".
Support for refugees
WAFA reported that India’s USD 2.5 million contribution was intended to support UNRWA’s core programmes and services, including education, healthcare and relief efforts provided to Palestinian refugees.

The report said the funding formed part of India’s annual contribution of US $5 million for the year 2026-27.
WAFA stated that the handover occurred after Sikand underlined the Government of India's continued support for the Agency’s services to Palestinian refugees.
WAFA said Amer expressed appreciation to the Government of India for its continued support, including as the top emerging donor for the Agency over the past three years.
