Nabatieh strikes kill 12
Lebanon’s health ministry reported at least 12 people killed, including two children and a paramedic, in Israeli airstrikes on Thursday in Nabatieh and Marjayoun districts despite a ceasefire.
“Breaking — Urgent alert to residents of the southern suburbs, especially in the neighborhoods: Haret Hreik; Al-Ghubayri; Al-Laylaki; Al-Hadath; Burj al-Barajneh; Tahwiyat al-Ghdeer; Al-Shiyah”
The ministry said strikes on three villages in Nabatieh district killed 11 people, two of them children, and another strike in Marjayoun district killed one paramedic from the Hezbollah-affiliated Islamic Health Committee rescue service and wounded one more.
The New Arab also reported that the Israeli army said its strike the day before on Beirut’s southern suburbs killed "the Commander of Hezbollah's 'Radwan Force' Unit".
In response to the attacks, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said "no terrorist is immune" from Israeli strikes and vowed the same for "anyone who threatens the State of Israel".
Army fortifies Sarda
The Lebanese Army continued on Thursday to reinforce its positions in southern Lebanon after taking Israeli fire earlier this week, including finalizing defensive measures in the Sarda area in the Marjayoun district.
Anadolu Ajansı said the army was installing metal fences along a dirt embankment erected on a route used during Israeli incursions from the Al-Hamamis hill, while it had already fortified two positions at Sarda by erecting additional earthen mounds.
Anadolu Ajansı reported that Israel said the Tuesday fire were "warning shots intended to prevent the establishment of a new military post near the border".
The same Anadolu Ajansı account said an Israeli drone carried out a guided-missile strike near Nabatieh al-Fawqa, hitting a wooded area known as Ali al-Taher, with ambulances dispatched and no immediate information on potential casualties.
Escalation and displacement
A separate report said Israel intensified bombardment of towns in southern Lebanon and the Beqaa in the east, including air raids on Jbshit and Yahmur al-Shqif in the Nabatieh District and an airstrike on Harij Ali al-Tahir at the outskirts of Nabatieh al-Fouqa.
“The Lebanese Army strengthens its positions in the south after Israeli fire”
The report also said a drone targeted a Hyundai-type car at the roundabout of Kfar Reman - Nabatieh, killing four people inside and setting the vehicle on fire, and it described a drone strike near the Ghandour Hospital in Nabatieh al-Fouqa that killed a person.
In parallel, the Israeli army issued evacuation warnings for villages north of the Litani River, and the Anadolu Ajansı-linked account said displacement from southern Lebanon continues toward Sidon and Beirut as the army shells bridges over the Litani River.
The same account said Lebanese authorities put the number of casualties from the ongoing Israeli aggression in Lebanon at 968 dead, 2,432 wounded, and 1,049,328 displaced.
