In a separate account, PressTV said Israeli drone strikes killed three Palestinians on Sunday, including Lieutenant Colonel Wissam Fayez Abdel Hadi and Sergeant Fadi Abdel Moati Heikal, and wounded several others amid continued violations of a ceasefire agreement.

PressTV reported that an Israeli airstrike hit a Palestinian vehicle in the al-Amal neighbourhood west of Khan Yunis in southern Gaza, killing two police officers and injuring others.

The same PressTV report said Gaza’s Interior Ministry confirmed the deaths of the two officers and that Israeli artillery carried out heavy shelling in the eastern areas of al-Qarara, northeast of Khan Yunis.

Ceasefire called fragile

Reuters, as carried by أخبار الخليج, said health officials in Gaza reported that Israeli attacks killed at least three Palestinians, including two members of the Hamas-run police force, in violence that underscored how fragile the ceasefire brokered by the United States has become.

In that Reuters account, medics said an airstrike killed a person in the Maghazi refugee camp, while the interior ministry said another airstrike killed Khan Younis Police Investigations Director Wasam Abdul-Hadi and his assistant.

The Reuters report also quoted mourner Ali Musa condemning Israel’s killing of members of the territory’s police, saying, "the occupation continues to target police to sow chaos among the people."

In a different framing, naiz said Hamas Police Officers were among the three dead in the latest Israeli airstrikes on Gaza, and it added that the Israeli military offered no immediate comment on either strike.

naiz further stated that killing and fighting in Gaza continued nonstop even after the October 2025 ceasefire, while each side pointed fingers at the other for breaking the ceasefire agreement.

Death toll and next phase

El Salto said Israel killed around thirty Palestinians on January 31, reporting at least 29 Gazans killed by an Israeli drone bombing of a tent in Jan Yunis that killed a father, his three children, and three of his grandchildren, according to a source at Naser Hospital.

El Salto reported that the Gazan Civil Defense stated, "Twenty-eight bodies have been recovered, a quarter of them children, a third women and an elderly man," and added that an Israeli missile struck the police station in the Sheij Radwan neighborhood in the city of Gaza, causing seven deaths.

El Salto also said the death toll in Gaza surpassed more than 500 Palestinians, including more than 100 children, according to figures from the local Health Ministry, and it cited a tally that reaches 1,244 since October 10, 2025, according to the Gaza Government Media Office (OGM).

In the same El Salto account, Steve Witkoff, Donald Trump’s special envoy and one of the architects of the October agreement, confirmed on Wednesday, January 14, that the Gaza Strip had entered phase 2 of that ceasefire.

PressTV, meanwhile, said that although a ceasefire has been in place since October 2025, Israel has continued to carry out strikes and maintain a blockade, and it gave Gaza’s Ministry of Health figures of approximately 851 Palestinians killed and 2,437 wounded since October 11, 2025.
