The BBC reported that Israel continued attacks in southern Lebanon on Tuesday but did not strike Beirut following a partial ceasefire agreement announced by Trump late on Monday, with Lebanon saying Israeli forces would not bomb the capital in exchange for Hezbollah not attacking Israel.

In Tyre, the BBC said the Lebanese health ministry reported four people killed and 127 injured when Israeli air strikes hit buildings next to Jabal Amel hospital on Monday afternoon, and it said 39 hospital staff were among the injured.

NBC News added that the Lebanese Civil Defense said six people were killed in an Israeli strike Monday night in the village of Marwaniyeh in southern Lebanon, and it said the Lebanese army later reported two soldiers wounded in Nabatieh by an Israeli hostile drone.

Hezbollah Rejects Partial

The Media Line said Hezbollah rejected the ceasefire plan as Israel-Lebanon talks began, with a senior Hezbollah official telling the group would refuse to accept any “partial” ceasefire agreement with Israel.

The Media Line also reported that Mahmoud Qomati, deputy head of Hezbollah’s political council, said the organization would reject the reported US-backed proposal and warned that any Israeli action against Beirut’s southern suburbs would trigger “a deeper and stronger response” from Hezbollah.

NBC News described how the Lebanese Embassy in Washington said Hezbollah accepted the terms of a U.S. proposal for a “mutual cessation of attacks,” while the BBC framed the same period as a partial truce that held in Beirut.

The BBC said Hezbollah attacked Israeli forces in southern Lebanon, where officials reported deadly Israeli strikes, and it quoted Dr Wael Mroueh, the hospital director, saying, “The Israeli enemy targets journalists, ambulance workers, medical staff.”

The BBC also reported that the Israeli military issued a fresh evacuation order for Nabatieh town on Tuesday afternoon and warned residents it was “compelled to act forcefully” against Hezbollah there because of “violation of the ceasefire agreement.”

Human Toll and Next Steps

Beyond the immediate fighting, the BBC said at least 3,468 people have been killed in Lebanon since the start of the war, according to the country’s health ministry, and it added that the UN says more than one million people have registered as displaced in Lebanon.
