Tent camp strike
An Israeli air attack hit a Gaza City tent camp housing displaced people, killing at least seven people, according to Gaza’s Civil Defence, and injuring at least 15 people, according to a source at al-Shifa Hospital who spoke to Al Jazeera on the ground.
“At least seven people have been killed in an Israeli air attack on a Gaza City tent camp housing displaced people, according to Gaza’s Civil Defence”
Al Jazeera’s Hani Mahmoud said the Israeli drone strikes caused “a huge explosion” and “a state of panic” at the United Nations school compound housing displaced people, and he described the attack as targeting “a tent next to another tent” where “there seemed to be a wedding going on at that moment.”

Mahmoud reported that “People were seen running out of the displacement site into the streets where civilian vehicles were deployed right away just to transport the injuries caused by the attack.”
The Israeli army told AFP it had “targeted terrorists in that sector”, without elaborating, and Al Jazeera said the attack came amid continued Israeli violations of the so-called “ceasefire” agreement that took effect on October 10.
Hamas spokesperson Hazam Qassem condemned the strike as a “horrific massacre” and said it was part of Israel’s “continued escalation of its war of extermination against civilians,” while Al Jazeera reported that the Saturday attacks together killed at least nine people in the enclave.
Wedding tent casualties
A separate Israeli strike hit a wedding tent in Gaza City, where local medical sources said at least six people were killed, and Al Jazeera’s Hani Mahmoud reported that several projectiles exploded near the wedding tent with shrapnel flying into a neighbouring displacement site school packed with displaced families.
Mahmoud said the targeted tent was next door to the wedding tent and that “Shrapnel flew at a very high speed” into the school next door, while a source at al-Shifa Hospital told Al Jazeera that at least 15 people were injured and many were being treated in the hospital’s intensive care unit.

Middle East Eye, citing Al Jazeera, reported that at least five people, including women and children, were killed when two missiles struck a tent that was “packed” with people gathered for a wedding, and it said the number of fatalities was expected to rise.
Middle East Eye also said shrapnel “flew at a very high speed” into a neighbouring displacement site school where families were sheltering, and it cited a source at al-Shifa Hospital reporting around 15 others were wounded.
In the same reporting thread, Hamas spokesperson Hazam Qassem issued a statement condemning the “horrific massacre” and said it was part of Israel’s “continued escalation of its war of extermination against civilians,” while the attack was described as coming amid continued Israeli violations of the so-called “ceasefire” agreement that took effect on October 10.
Ceasefire talks and toll
The Gaza City attacks came as Hamas convened meetings with mediators and other Palestinian factions in Egypt to discuss the future of the enclave amid the beleaguered ceasefire process, with Hamas’s Hazam Qassem saying the discussions would focus on ensuring full implementation of the first phase of the agreement.
“Güneşli Sunday, June 7, 2026 A young Palestinian man was martyred in an Israeli attack on southern Gaza in the early hours of Saturday, only hours before he was due to celebrate what should have been one of the happiest days of his life”
Qassem said the first phase should include ending what he described as Israeli violations, reopening border crossings, and allowing humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, and he said the talks would also address second-phase issues including proposals for the deployment of international forces in Gaza and the disarmament of Palestinian factions.
Al Jazeera reported that more than half of Gaza remains under Israeli military control in defiance of the ceasefire’s terms, and it said the transition to the second phase has been stalled for months.
In a separate report, İlke Haber Ajansı said the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza announced that hospitals received five martyrs and 49 wounded Palestinians during the past 48 hours, and it stated that “Israeli attacks carried out since the ceasefire took effect have killed 951 Palestinians and wounded 2,984 others.”
İlke Haber Ajansı further said the overall toll of the Israeli war on Gaza since October 7, 2023, has risen to 72,961 martyrs and 173,092 wounded, while it described ongoing restrictions on reopening the Rafah crossing and limitations on the entry of humanitarian aid, medical supplies, food, fuel, and other essential goods as key concerns raised by Palestinian officials.
