Nuseirat family killed
An Israeli air strike hit a residential apartment in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza before dawn, killing three people including a six-month-old child, according to Al-Aqsa Martyrs hospital in Deir el-Balah.
“At least 36 people were killed in an Israeli airstrike that destroyed a house sheltering Palestinians displaced in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza”
Medical workers identified the dead in the Nuseirat attack as Mohammad Abu Mallouh, Alaa Zaqlan, and their child Osama, and the hospital said around 10 people were wounded.

In Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza, one Palestinian was killed by Israeli gunfire in the centre of the camp and his body was transferred to Al-Shifa Hospital in western Gaza City, the sources told Anadolu.
Gaza’s Health Ministry reported that FIVE Palestinians have been killed in the past 24 hours by Israeli forces, while the Express Tribune also said a couple and their child were killed in the Nuseirat airstrike and three others were wounded.
Later on Sunday, Israeli gunfire killed a Palestinian man in the north of the enclave near a UN-run medical clinic in Jabalia refugee camp, medical workers said, and the Israeli military did not immediately comment on either incident.
Ceasefire violations disputed
Al-Aqsa Martyrs hospital in Deir el-Balah said it received the bodies of a couple and their infant after the Israeli strike hit the Al-Nuseirat camp, and the hospital said around 10 people were wounded.
The Free Malaysia Today report said there was no immediate comment from the Israeli military about the three deaths, though it said it had struck three Hamas weapons storage facilities in central Gaza over the preceding 24 hours.

Al Jazeera reported that Israel continues to violate the “ceasefire” brokered by the United States last year, and it quoted Hani Mahmoud saying Israeli bombing began on Sunday as Palestinians were fleeing following forced displacement orders.
In the same Al Jazeera account, the outlet said Israel’s near-daily attacks have continued across the besieged Palestinian territory since the “ceasefire” came into effect in October, with Gaza health authorities saying they have killed nearly 900 people.
The Express Tribune framed the deaths as part of “daily breaches of ongoing truce,” and it said Gaza’s Health Ministry reports that FIVE Palestinians have been killed in the past 24 hours by Israeli forces.
Rafah plans and aid
Beyond the strikes, the VOA Afrique report said Israeli bombardments continued in the Gaza Strip and cited Hamas’s Health Ministry saying 36 members of the same family were killed in the Nuseirat refugee camp during a night marked by 60 air strikes.
“Gaza Strip: Israeli air strikes kill 16 more Palestinians - Among the victims are 6 children and an infant, according to medical sources Ikram Kouachi August 23, 2025 • Updated: August 23, 2025 Ankara / Anadolu Agency / Ikram Kouachi At least 16 Palestinians were killed on Saturday in Israeli strikes targeting tents housing displaced people in Khan Younis and in central Gaza, according to medical sources”
VOA Afrique also reported that the United States, Qatar and Egypt are trying to reach an agreement on a truce and a hostage exchange in Gaza for Palestinian prisoners held by Israel, after failing to do so before the start of Ramadan.
It said Hamas told AFP it was ready for a six-week truce in which 42 hostages could be released in exchange for 20 to 50 Palestinian prisoners per hostage released, and it called for the “withdrawal of the army from all cities and populated areas.”
The same report said Benjamin Netanyahu’s office approved the army’s “action plans” for an assault on Rafah, where around 1.5 million Palestinians are massed, and it said the operation could take place if there is no ceasefire agreement or after.
On aid, VOA Afrique reported that a boat from the Spanish NGO Open Arms carrying 200 tons of food from World Kitchen Central arrived on the Gaza coast and finished unloading its cargo on Saturday, while Cyprus’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Theodoros Gotsis said a second aid boat was ready to depart for Gaza this weekend.
