Drone strikes despite ceasefire
Israeli drone strikes in southern Lebanon killed at least four people and wounded several others on Tuesday, according to Lebanese media cited by TRT World and Anadolu Ajansı.

TRT World said an Israeli drone first hit a vehicle in the town of Meifdoun in Nabatieh before striking again as residents had gathered, and then targeted a second vehicle in the same town and a third in the nearby town of Choukine.

Anadolu Ajansı reported the same sequence, saying the drone first hit a vehicle in Meifdoun in Nabatieh and then struck a vehicle in Choukine, with a preliminary toll of four killed and several wounded.
TRT World added that the attacks came despite a fragile ceasefire that has been in effect since April 17, 2026, and despite a memorandum of understanding between the US and Iran to end hostilities on all fronts, including Lebanon.
Israeli claims and Hezbollah
While Lebanese media reported the strikes, the Israeli military told Middle East Eye that it intercepted Hezbollah rockets launched toward its forces operating in southern Lebanon.
Middle East Eye said the Israeli army, in a statement posted on Telegram, claimed it subsequently targeted and destroyed the launcher used in the attack.
Middle East Eye also reported that the Israeli military said it carried out a strike on a vehicle in southern Lebanon after firing what it described as a "warning" shot.
Earlier on Tuesday, Middle East Eye said Israeli strikes in Nabatieh governorate killed at least four people, including in what Lebanese media described as a deadly "double-tap" attack targeting the same area more than once.
Journalists, diplomacy, and risk
In southern Lebanon, the International Federation of Journalists reported that Lebanese journalist Hadi Hoteit was injured on 15 June when he was directly hit by an Israeli drone while reporting on the aftermath of Israeli attacks in the town of Kafr Tebnit in the Nabatieh district.

IFJ said Hoteit, a correspondent for Iranian state-owned media Press TV, recorded a video stating that the attack had been deliberate and that the drone had targeted him directly, and it noted he was wearing a press vest and a helmet.
The IFJ also quoted its general secretary Anthony Bellanger saying, "We have consistently condemned the repeated threats and attacks by the Israeli army against journalists in Lebanon and Palestine," and said the IFJ and its affiliates would organize a side event at the 62nd session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.
Separately, The Jerusalem Post framed the broader diplomatic backdrop by saying a ceasefire deal was announced on April 7 and went into effect on April 8, even as it described ongoing Israeli strikes in Lebanon and Iran’s joint military command warning Israel over attacks on southern Lebanon.
