Elite letter warns of violence
A leaked letter seen by the Guardian says dozens of Israelis from the country’s security, political and cultural elite have threatened legal action against their government over support for “Jewish terrorism” and an “ideology of ethnic cleansing” in the occupied West Bank.
“Joseph Kent, a former special forces soldier, is the first senior official to resign from the Trump administration to express his disagreement with the war in the Middle East”
The letter, described as a “final warning,” demands that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his defence and security ministers and security commanders “eradicate Jewish terrorism” and says the signatories will petition Israel’s high court if they do not condemn and stop the violence.

The Guardian reports the letter was sent to the prime minister’s office, the ministries of defence and national security, the military, police, and intelligence services, and that a copy was seen by the Guardian.
The letter also links the violence to an extremist agenda of ethnic cleansing and annexation, saying it is “not solely a military and police failure” but “the implementation of an overt policy” by the Israeli government and its prime minister.
The Guardian further states that since 2020 Israeli soldiers and settlers have killed at least 1,100 Palestinian civilians in the occupied West Bank, at least a quarter of whom were children, and that no one has been charged over any of those deaths.
Gillon: “dark future”
Carmi Gillon, the former head of Shin Bet, warned in an interview carried by Middle East Eye that “A dark future awaits Israel,” saying that if Israel adopts the Trump plan it will trigger a right-wing messianic ideology that will provoke chaos.
Middle East Eye reports Gillon told Haaretz that “Jewish terrorists are no longer on the fringe,” and predicted that a horrific terrorist attack against the Dormition Abbey in the Old City of Jerusalem would put Shin Bet into action.

Gillon said the Israeli public has mistaken the attackers for “wild weeds,” and Middle East Eye quotes him saying that when Jewish clandestinity was discovered there were 12,000 settlers in the territories, while now there are 500,000.
He also described a scenario in which no Attorney General has allowed an investigation into radical rabbis or a ruling on the imminent danger reflected in their statements, and he said, “We have also made a mistake on this subject.”
Middle East Eye adds that Gillon said Netanyahu has mortgaged the State, the dignity of the State, and democracy in his refusal to go to prison, and that a majority of 61 seats in the Knesset will pave the way to the “French Law.”
Diaspora letter and impunity
On March 26, 2026, leaders of the Jewish diaspora including Delphine Horvilleur published an open letter to the President of the State of Israel, Isaac Herzog, asking him to act to end acts of violence committed with impunity by extremist Jewish Israeli terrorists against Palestinians in the West Bank.
“The former head of Shin Bet warns against 'Jewish terrorism'”
Tenoua.me says the letter was initiated by the London Initiative and follows a previous letter sent in August to Prime Minister Netanyahu, and it adds that since its publication the letter has already been signed by 1,500 Jewish leaders from around the world.
The open letter urges Herzog to “use your office to press the government to end the abomination that is extremist Jewish terrorism, as well as the era of impunity enjoyed by its perpetrators,” and it warns that if the scourge were not stemmed it would jeopardize “the promise of freedom, security, and sovereignty of the Jewish people.”
Tenoua.me also states that on Wednesday, March 18, the Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces, Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, publicly delivered his stern condemnation and characterized attacks carried out by Jewish extremists against Palestinian civilians and IDF soldiers in the West Bank as “morally and ethically unacceptable” and a major strategic threat to Israel’s security and future.
The open letter says the fact that Israeli security forces are not acting decisively suggests a lack of directives from the government, and it describes the terrorism, death, and destruction inflicted by Jewish Israeli extremists on innocent Palestinians across the West Bank as an “abomination.”
