Exhumation in Jenin
Israeli occupation forces compelled residents of al-'Asa'asa village in the Jenin governorate to exhume the body of a deceased relative from a grave that had been buried earlier in the day.
“Israeli occupation forces forced residents of the village of al‑Asa’sa in Jenin in the northern West Bank on Friday evening to exhume the body of a man who had been buried only hours earlier, after illegal paramilitary Israeli colonizers began digging up his grave”
Local sources said colonists began digging up the grave in the village cemetery in an attempt to remove the body, and Israeli occupation forces then arrived and forced the family to exhume and rebury it elsewhere.

The forces justified the order by claiming the cemetery was located near the illegal Tarsala colony, which was built on lands belonging to the town of Jaba’.
WAFA said that last April Israeli occupation authorities allowed colonists to return to the Tarsala colony after it had been evacuated in 2005, and that since then colonists and Israeli forces have carried out daily raids into Jaba’ and Silat al-Dhahr, harassing and terrorizing residents.
Legal claims and raids
IMEMC News reported that Israeli forces ordered the family to exhume the body themselves and relocate it, claiming the cemetery was too close to the illegal colony of Tarsala (Sanur), built on stolen Palestinian land.
IMEMC News also said the Israeli military had allowed colonizers to return to the Tarsala colony in April despite the site having been evacuated in 2005, and that since their return colonizers and Israeli forces have repeatedly invaded the towns of Jaba’ and Silat ath‑Thaher.
The report described a broader pattern around the Jenin area, saying that in recent weeks Israeli forces issued demolition notices targeting several Palestinian-owned commercial structures along the Jenin–Nablus Road, claiming they were located too close to the colony.
IMEMC News further stated that all of Israel’s colonies in the occupied West Bank, including those in and around occupied East Jerusalem, are illegal under International Law, and it cited Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention, which says: “The Occupying Power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies.”
Diplomacy and trade
In a separate development, Iranian Ambassador to China Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli said Tehran’s relations with Beijing will grow “broader and deeper” in the post-war period ahead of US President Donald Trump’s visit to Beijing next week.
“JENIN, May 8, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces on Friday evening compelled residents of al-'Asa'asa village in the Jenin governorate to exhume the body of a deceased relative from his grave, according to local sources”
Fazli told reporters in Beijing that Iran and China share “very common views” on issues related to regional security, peace and global development, and he dismissed speculation that Washington could offer Beijing tariff relief or trade concessions in exchange for increased pressure on Tehran.
Anadolu Ajansı reported that Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held bilateral talks Wednesday with his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi in Beijing, and wrote on US social media company X that both sides reaffirmed Iran’s right to safeguard national sovereignty and national dignity.
The same Anadolu Ajansı report said China reported bilateral trade with Iran at $9.96 billion in 2025, while excluding an estimated $31.2 billion in Iranian crude oil exports to China that were reportedly not reflected in official trade data, and it added that Bloomberg said Iran was ramping up trade with China via rail since the blockade on April 13.
