Shops demolished in al-Eizariya

Israeli forces demolished about 40 Palestinian shops and bulldozed three car washes in the town of al-Eizariya in the occupied East Jerusalem, according to the Jerusalem Governorate’s statement cited by TRT World.

TRT World reported that the governorate warned against the continuation of such attacks and said sound and gas bombs were fired at citizens during the process, even though a precautionary order had frozen demolitions until May.

In a separate report, WAFA said Israeli occupation forces on Monday evening proceeded to demolish dozens of industrial and commercial facilities in the al-Mashtal area of al-Eizariya, and local informed sources estimated that bulldozers had demolished around 20 industrial and commercial facilities so far.

WAFA added that Israeli forces deployed several military vehicles to the area, fired sound bombs and tear gas at residents, and obstructed traffic movement while demolitions continued despite a precautionary court order obtained by local residents prohibiting demolition of the shops until mid-May.

Precautionary orders and legal fight

Al-Jazeera Net reported that Israeli occupation forces demolished dozens of Palestinian commercial facilities on Monday evening in al-Azariya, despite a human rights organization having obtained a precautionary order to suspend the demolition.

Al-Jazeera Net said the Jerusalem Governorate stated the demolition campaign included about 40 industrial and commercial facilities and the razing of three car-wash facilities, and it added that the forces unleashed a heavy volley of sound and tear gas toward residents present at the site.

The report also described a legal effort by the Palestinian rights organization 'Saint Yves', which it said announced on Sunday that it had obtained a ruling from the Israeli Supreme Court ordering a temporary suspension of the demolition of about 50 commercial facilities in al-Azariya after a legal petition filed by the defense on behalf of the owners.

In the same account, Al-Jazeera Net linked the demolitions to the E1 settlement plan and said Israeli authorities had orally notified about 50 citizens to evacuate their shops and commercial facilities in the Mushatel area in preparation for demolishing them under orders issued previously in August 2025.

Wider escalation and retaliation

The reports on al-Eizariya demolitions arrived as L'Orient-Le Jour described a broader escalation in the region, including explosions heard in Doha and loud detonations heard in Dubai after Iran launched strikes in the Gulf in retaliation for U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran.

L'Orient-Le Jour said Iranian missiles fired at Israel and air-raid sirens sounded in central Israel, with the army saying missiles had been launched from Iran toward Israel and interception operations were underway.

The same source reported that the Iranian Revolutionary Guards pledged Sunday the fiercest offensive in history against Israel and the United States after the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, and it quoted the Guards writing on Telegram that the operation would begin any moment against occupied territories and American terrorist bases.

L'Orient-Le Jour also said Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese stated Sunday that the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei will not be mourned, adding that Khamenei was responsible for the regime’s nuclear and ballistic programs and for supporting armed groups.
