Middle East Eye said the seven-month-old Palestinian baby was killed after Israeli forces opened fire on his family’s car near Hebron in the occupied West Bank, identifying the infant as Sam Fahd Abu Haikal.

Middle East Eye reported the family was travelling to visit Sam’s grandmother when Israeli forces fired at their vehicle, and it said Sam’s father was shot in the hand while his mother was struck by the bullet that entered the baby’s jaw.
Haaretz tied the case to the Israeli military’s actions in the West Bank and said the Palestinian Health Ministry reported the infant’s death and the parents’ injuries.
Names, locations, and claims
Middle East Eye said the shooting took place in Tel Rumeida, south of Hebron, and it reported that the Palestinian Ministry of Health identified the infant as Sam Fahd Abu Haikal.
Anadolu Ajansı also placed the incident in the Tel Rumeida area south of Hebron and said the Palestinian Health Ministry reported that Israeli forces opened fire on the family vehicle, injuring three members of the same Palestinian family including a 7-month-old infant.

The Qatari news agency QNA said the Palestinian Ministry of Health announced that three members of the same family were injured when Israeli occupation forces fired on their vehicle in the Tel Rumeida area south of Hebron, and it described the seven-month-old infant’s condition as critical.
Haaretz described the same overall event as an Israeli military shooting that killed an infant and wounded his parents, while the other outlets’ accounts differed on whether the infant died or was critically injured.
Broader Gaza war context
QNA linked the West Bank incident to what it called an escalation in raids, arrests, and attacks carried out by Israeli occupation forces and settlers, and it said this coincides with ongoing Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip through airstrikes and attacks on various areas of the Strip.

France Palestine Solidarité described a separate series of attacks by Israeli settlers across the occupied West Bank, including settlers setting fire to houses and cars and breaking windows in al-Fandaqumiya and Seilat al-Dahr south of Jenin, and it said the violence occurred during Eid al-Fitr.
The France Palestine Solidarité report said Israeli troops and police were on the outskirts of the villages by 2 a.m. but did not stop the attacks, which continued through the night, and it said witnesses told The Guardian that settlers moved from one village to another.
It also cited the UN’s claim that Israeli forces and settlers have killed more than 1,000 Palestinians in the West Bank since October 2023, framing the West Bank incidents as part of a broader escalation tied to the Gaza war began in October 2023.
