West Bank violence spikes
The UN envoy Tor Wennesland told the Security Council that more than 150 Palestinians and more than 20 Israelis have been killed in the West Bank and Israel so far in 2022, calling it the highest death toll in years.
“La violence des colons et de l’armée d’occupation s’intensifie dans le silence international Par l’Agence Média Palestine, le 31 mars 2026 Funérailles d’un adolescent de 15 ans tué par les forces israéliennes, Bethléem, 28 mars 2026 Photographe : Mosab Shawer La semaine du 24 au 31 mars 2026 a été marquée en Cisjordanie par une intensification des opérations militaires israéliennes et des violences de colons”
Wennesland said that since December 8 Israeli security forces have killed six Palestinians, including two children, and he reported that forty-four young Palestinians and one Israeli child have died this year.

In parallel, Agence Media Palestine said that the week of 24 to 31 mars 2026 in Cisjordanie was marked by an intensification of Israeli military operations and settler violence, with three Palestinians killed in one week.
Agence Media Palestine reported that on 30 mars 2026 a young Palestinian was killed by Israeli forces in the village of Kharsa, south-ouest d’Hébron, and that soldiers prevented access to the wounded, confiscated ambulance keys until his death, and then took his body to an unknown destination.
Voices accuse and warn
Wennesland expressed concern that violence carried out in recent months—described as clashes, protests, attacks, Israeli security operations, and other incidents—has fueled mistrust and jeopardizes a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
He said he was gravely concerned by the sharp increase in violence against civilians on both sides, and he urged an end to violence while calling for all perpetrators to be held to account.

Agence Media Palestine described how, in the night of 29 au 30 mars 2026, Israeli occupation forces carried out simultaneous operations in villages east and north of Ramallah, including Taybeh, Deir Jarir, Rammun, Deir Dibwan, al-Mazra’a, al-Sharqiya and Silwad.
It also said that at Sinjil the forces protected settlers beginning earthworks for a new outpost near Aghraba, and that journalist Muhammad Ghafri reported that a road of about three kilometers linking the Ma’ale Levona settlement to the site had already been paved.
Gaza, settlements, and risk
UN News said the situation in Gaza remains fragile under blockade for nearly 15 years, with the risk of escalation persisting even as a ceasefire holds in part thanks to UN and partner efforts and Israeli measures to ease movement and access restrictions.
The UN envoy reported that currently more than 18,000 Gaza residents—the highest number since 2007—have permits allowing them to work or engage in business activities in Israel, and he said the volume of goods leaving Gaza through the Kerem Shalom crossing has risen by almost 50 percent this year.
Turning to the West Bank, Wennesland said construction of about 4,800 housing units continued this year in Area C, and he reported that bids had fallen from 1,800 to 150.
He added that he remained deeply concerned by ongoing demolitions and seizures of Palestinian structures, including alarm at the demolition of a donor-funded school in Masafer Yatta and by Israel’s stated plan to demolish other structures in herding communities, which he said would have severe humanitarian consequences.
