Walid’s father, Khaled Ahmed, told Al Jazeera Net that Israeli authorities “starved him to death and killed his dreams and ours,” and he said he was in contact with the Brazilian embassy to exert diplomatic pressure to hand over his son’s body.

The same Al Jazeera Net report tied the case to a wider risk for children, saying data from Palestinian prisoners’ institutions revealed risks threatening more than 350 Palestinian children inside Israeli prisons.

It also said the Palestinian Prisoners’ Affairs Commission, the Palestinian Prisoners Club and the Center for the Protection of Prisoners warned of “extremely dangerous conditions,” including enforced disappearance, denial of visits, and cutting off communication.

Deaths in Hebron and raids

In Hebron in the southern West Bank, Anadolu Ajansı reported the Palestinian Ministry of Health announced the death of Ibrahim Abdul-Fattah al-Khayyat, 16, from Israeli army gunfire.

Anadolu said the incident occurred on Wednesday evening, when a Palestinian child was killed and two others were injured by Israeli army fire, while a fourth was injured by army fire in a town north of Jerusalem.

The report also said local sources told Anadolu that Israeli forces entered the Hawouz area in Hebron, raided the Islamic Charitable Association building, and forced shop owners in the surrounding area to close.

Anadolu further described how forces closed the main street in the area and prevented residents from moving about, amid ongoing gunfire, while its Red Crescent crews treated two gunshot injuries in Hebron.

In a separate incident, Anadolu said its crews transported a Palestinian wounded by live Israeli army fire on the separating wall in the town of al-Ram, north of Jerusalem, for treatment.

Shooting of a family

Courrier international described a night from Saturday to Sunday, March 15, when four members of the Bani Odeh family—two boys aged 5 and 6 and their parents—were killed by Israeli security forces as they were returning to their hometown of Tammoun.

The report said the family had gone to the neighboring city of Nablus, about twenty kilometers away, to buy clothes for the Eid festival, and that around 1:30 a.m. Israeli soldiers opened fire, without warning, on the vehicle traveling through the sleeping town of Tammoun.

It quoted the elder boy Mustafa’s account through Khaled, saying, “we killed dogs,” and it also included Ha’Aretz’s report of the boy’s words: “When I answered that there was my mother, my father and my brothers, they yelled liar, liar, liar.”

Courrier international said the Israeli army stated its soldiers felt threatened because the head of the family allegedly accelerated toward the car in which they were posted, and it described a family member’s response as “totally absurd.”

The article said dozens of Palestinians gathered on Sunday, March 15 in Tammoun for the funeral of the couple and their two young children.
