In Khan Younis in southern Gaza, Franceinfo described an Israeli raid that hit the al-Najjar family home with two missile strikes on Friday, May 23, killing nine children and seriously injuring their father and one son.

Franceinfo quoted a relative describing the aftermath, saying, "My brother was on the ground, his head bleeding, his hand torn off, buried under the rubble."

Doctors’ nine children killed

Franceinfo said the Gaza Civil Defense announced the death of nine children from a Palestinian doctor couple in Khan Younis, with the father and one of the sons seriously injured and hospitalized.

RTL reported that on Friday, May 23, nine children from Dr. Hamdi Al-Najjar and Dr. Alaa Al-Najjar were killed in an airstrike in the southern part of the besieged territory, and that Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Bassal said the Israeli occupation targeted their home in the Gizan Al-Najjar neighborhood in Khan Younis.

RTL added that Dr. Hamdi al-Najjar and their tenth child, Adam, were seriously injured, and that al-Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis said the only surviving child is 10 years old.

RTL also quoted the Israeli army saying one aircraft had "struck several individuals suspected of operating from an adjacent structure" near soldiers, and that "The claim regarding damage to civilians not involved is under review,".

Evacuation and broader toll

Le Parisien said an eleven-year-old Palestinian boy, Adam, the sole survivor of his nine brothers and sisters, is to be evacuated to Italy on Wednesday with his mother to receive care.

Le Parisien reported that Italian authorities said Adam will arrive at 7:30 p.m. in Milan and be cared for at the Niguarda Hospital because he suffers from fractures, after the May 23 bombing of his home in Khan Younes.

Le Parisien also quoted Adam telling his mother, "I was told that Italy was a beautiful place," and said his mother told La Repubblica that in Gaza, "people die of hunger," and when they do not, "they are killed by bombings."

RTL said the Israeli army reported that in the last 24 hours it "eliminated terrorists and dismantled terrorist infrastructures, including underground ones," and that the air force "struck more than 100 terrorist targets."
