Perfectly, at Walter Reed
President Donald Trump said his medical exam at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center “checked out PERFECTLY” after a “6 month physical” on Tuesday, as he faces renewed scrutiny over his age and stamina.
“Trump says Walter Reed medical exam went ‘perfectly’ Details will be released in the next day or two, the White House said”
USA TODAY reported the exam was conducted on May 26 at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in the Washington, DC, area, and noted Trump is the oldest person to be inaugurated as U.S. president.

AP reported the 79-year-old president spent more than three hours at Walter Reed for what the White House described as preventive medical and dental checkups, and said it was Trump’s fourth publicly disclosed medical exam since returning to office for a second term.
The White House did not immediately release a written report from Trump’s doctors, and AP said the results are filtered through the White House and must be approved by the president.
AP also said Trump turns 80 next month and that his immediate predecessor, President Joe Biden, was 82 when he left office, dropping out of the 2024 presidential race amid concerns he was too old for the job.
Doctors, doubts, and defenses
Dr. Jeffrey Kuhlman, who served as a White House physician for more than a decade under Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton, told AP that “concern for the president’s physical health is probably at an all-time high.”
AP also quoted White House spokesperson Davis Ingle saying, “President Trump is the sharpest and most accessible President in American history who is working nonstop to solve problems.”

AP reported that a Washington Post/ABC News/Ipsos poll conducted in April found that less than half of U.S. adults think Trump has the mental sharpness or physical health to serve effectively as president.
The Associated Press further said last month a statement from more than 30 neurologists, psychiatrists and other medical experts—who acknowledged they’ve never examined him—warned of an “increasingly dangerous decline” in his behavior.
In response to the criticism, AP said Ingle accused the doctors of engaging in politically motivated “armchair diagnosis,” while USA TODAY reported that an official letter from Dr. Sean Barbabella was not immediately released.
What comes next
AP said there is no law requiring presidents to disclose their medical records, and that the degree of transparency has varied by administration.
“Trump receives routine medical exam, says it went ‘perfectly’ US president visits military hospital for scheduled medical and dental assessments as scrutiny over his health continues Ahmet Salih Alacaci 26 May 2026•Update: 26 May 2026 WASHINGTON US President Donald Trump said Tuesday that he had undergone a routine physical examination at a Maryland military hospital, underlining that the checkup had gone "perfectly”
ABC News reported the White House said details of Tuesday’s visit could be expected “in the next day or two,” and described the appointment as “annual dental and medical evaluations.”
ABC News also said the visit took about three-and-a-half hours, and that a White House official told reporters details regarding the visit could be expected “in the next day or so.”
Forbes reported that Trump’s physician, Sean Barbabella, attributed bruising on Trump’s hands to “minor soft tissue irritation from frequent handshaking” and aspirin “taken as part of a standard cardiovascular prevention regimen.”
Meanwhile, Anadolu Ajansı said the White House previously stated the checkup would entail “routine annual dental and medical assessments as part of his regular preventive health care,” even as it remained unclear whether the White House would release details of the exam results or procedures.
