Euronews said the interceptions came a day after U.S. forces downed four other Iranian attack drones that Washington said threatened maritime traffic in the strategic waterway.

Anadolu Ajansı said CENTCOM announced Saturday that American forces shot down two Iranian one-way attack drones above the Strait of Hormuz, and that the unmanned aerial vehicles posed a threat to international maritime traffic in the strategically vital waterway.

Talks, Ceasefire, and Retaliation

ABC News said Pakistan’s interior minister Mohsin Naqvi was in Tehran to deliver a message to Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei from Pakistan's army chief Field Marshal Asim Munir, and that Khamenei has not been seen in public since he was named the Islamic Republic’s ruler after his father was killed on the first day of the war on Feb. 28.

The Hill reported that the U.S. military shot down four Iranian one-way attack drones Friday heading toward the Strait of Hormuz and then struck Iranian coastal surveillance radar sites in Goruk and on Qeshm Island to “defend against further attacks,” according to CENTCOM.

NDTV said U.S. Central Command hit radar sites including an island in the strait “to defend against further attacks,” while also enforcing a blockade on Iranian ports in response to Tehran's chokehold on the corridor for global oil and natural gas shipments.

NDTV added that Trump told reporters Friday that "the situation with Iran seems to be going quite well," as U.S. and Iranian negotiators reached a tentative agreement to extend the ceasefire by 60 days and start a new round of talks on Iran's nuclear program.

What’s at Risk Next

The Hill said CENTCOM reported there were no reports of harm to U.S. personnel, while also stating that Iranian claims of damaging U.S. 5th fleet headquarters in Bahrain are false.

Fortune reported that in the last two months U.S. forces have counted nearly 1,000 commercial vessels going in and out of the strait, translating to about 17 ships per day, even as the number remains a fraction of pre-war levels.

NDTV warned that the drone interception and continued exchanges have strained the tenuous ceasefire and threatened efforts to end the Iran war and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, because Iran has demanded that any lasting truce extend to Lebanon.
