Gaza, occupation, collapse
The Church of England’s Sarah Mullally and Hosam Naoum, the Anglican archbishop of Jerusalem, urged Anglicans to press politicians “to take all necessary measures to establish a credible path towards ending the occupation” after a five-day pastoral visit that included meetings with Palestinians attacked by settlers and others detained without trial.
“Two powerful earthquakes devastate Venezuela; Israeli killing in Lebanon continues; Iván Cepeda concedes in Colombia Drop Site Daily: June 25, 2026 U”
In their joint letter, Mullally and Naoum said they feared for “the long-term future of the indigenous Christian Palestinian presence in the Holy Land that stretches back to the time when our Lord walked this land,” and they described Gaza’s health system as being in a state of “catastrophic collapse.”

Mullally said she spoke of the “immense hardships” and “web of checkpoints” Palestinians faced in the West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem, and she planted an olive tree with the family of Daoud Nassar, Palestinian Christians who have been fighting Israeli attempts to seize their land in the West Bank since 1991.
The Guardian also reported that Mullally and Naoum wrote that “Meanwhile, the profound suffering in Gaza continues,” and they said the international community “must not look away; it bears a moral responsibility to relieve this agony and help rebuild Gaza’s society.”
Humanitarian law and protection
In Ukraine, OCHA reported that two humanitarians with the NGO, Norwegian People’s Aid, were killed and four others injured in an attack in the region of Kherson, and Tom Fletcher said in a statement that “accepting risk is not accepting being attacked.”
OCHA added that Matthias Schmale, the Humanitarian Coordinator and Resident Coordinator for Ukraine, expressed his deepest condolences and stressed that “humanitarian personnel must never be harmed while carrying out their duties.”

OCHA said attacks across Ukraine between yesterday and the early hours of today killed at least 12 civilians and injured nearly 90 others, including health workers and children, while the Kherson Region saw several civilians killed and more than 20 injured.
The same OCHA update said parts of five front-line regions—Sumy, Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia—remain without electricity due to attacks, and it reported that in the first quarter of 2026 the UN and its partners reached more than 980,000 people affected by attacks with emergency shelter, hot meals, cash assistance and other life-saving support.
Displacement and returns
OCHA reported that in Lebanon, displacement continues to decline despite a fragile situation, with just over 700,000 internally displaced people recorded as of yesterday, a 17 per cent decrease compared to the previous week.
“The archbishop of Canterbury has called for an end to the Israeli occupation of Palestine after a pilgrimage in which she met Palestinians attacked by settlers and others detained without trial”
At the same time, OCHA said more than 500,000 displaced people have begun returning to their communities, with return movements taking place across multiple areas, particularly in southern Lebanon, and with the majority of returnees moving back from urban areas of Beirut and Saida, South Governorate.
OCHA said partners warned that returns are taking place under challenging conditions, with many communities facing damaged homes, disrupted services and limited access to basic needs, and it identified water supply as one of the most critical challenges.
The OCHA update also said that since the escalation began in March, the World Food Programme has supported more than 720,000 conflict‑affected people across Lebanon with food and cash, as the UN and its partners continue to scale up assistance.
