Ashab Al-Kahf Rejects Disarmament, Threatens Military Action Against Israel Over Beirut Attacks

An Iraqi armed faction known as Ashab al-Kahf rejected calls for disarmament of non-state armed groups and threatened military action against Israel if Beirut's southern suburbs come under attack, framing the issue as consistent with Iraq's highest Shiite religious authority.

Kurdistan24 reported that Ashab al-Kahf insisted Iraq's senior clerical authority has never supported abandoning armed resistance and warned that "It is jihad—victory or martyrdom."

The same statement came as Iraq's ruling Coordination Framework authorized Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ali al-Zaidi to take necessary decisions to safeguard Iraq's supreme national interests, while stressing that decisions regarding war and peace are sovereign national matters.

Kurdistan24 said the Coordination Framework endorsed restricting weapons to state control and supported separating the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) from political, partisan, and social affiliations, citing the PMF Law No. 40 of 2016 and commitments in the government's approved ministerial program.

In parallel, شبكه العالم cited Mohammad al-Dhari saying the dissolution or merger project of Hashd al-Shaabi would inflame political divisions that serve the interests of the United States and the Zionist regime, while describing it as rejected by the Axis of Resistance.

Kata'ib Hezbollah in Iraq warned that if the United States directly intervenes in the conflict to support the Zionist regime, "all bases and interests of this country on Iraqi soil and across the region will be regarded as legitimate targets."

In the same reporting stream, Mehr News Agency cited Mohammad Al-Dilimi saying the United States gave a green light to the Zionist regime to attack resistance forces in Lebanon and Iraq, and it said the Trump administration showed this green light to target resistance figures.

Mehr News Agency further quoted Al-Dilimi alleging that puppet Arab regimes opened their airspace to Israeli fighter jets to target Iran, while condemning Israel’s attacks on Lebanon and Gaza.
