The same Calibre Defence analysis described how an FPV drone operator follows an Israeli maneuver-protected vehicle through blurred video footage before the drone swoops in, while the video is cut and “preventing analysis of the strike.”

In parallel, TRT عربي said the Israeli occupation army continues to cement its presence inside what it calls a 'security zone' up to 10 kilometers deep into Lebanese territory, extending from the Mediterranean coast to the west to the Mount Hermon area to the east.

Northern Command hit

Arab 48 reported that an offensive drone belonging to Hezbollah struck the vehicle of the Israeli Army's Northern Command commander, Rafi Milo, minutes after he had left it during a field tour to inspect his forces in southern Lebanon.

Arab 48 added that Israeli public broadcaster Kan 11 said the drone, a FPV-type, targeted a field patrol in which Milo was taking part during a reconnaissance tour conducted with officers in his office south of Lebanon, and that Milo left the vehicle accompanied by a female officer shortly before it was directly hit.

Euronews said the Israeli army is investigating how Hezbollah drones were able to strike its forces in southern Lebanon at night, describing the first incident as killing Sergeant First Class Michael Tiyokin (21) from the city of Ashkelon, a member of the Givati Brigade.

Euronews also said a second incident on the night of Sunday into Monday killed Sergeant First Class Adam Tsarfati (20) from Rosh HaAyin, belonging to the Maglan special forces unit, and that a field medical commander in the Givati Brigade, Captain Dr. Ori Yosef Sylvester, was also killed in a daytime attack.

Night combat stakes

Euronews quoted a Yedioth Ahronoth account of a soldier telling a wounded comrade visit that “Fifteen people were killed during what was supposed to be a ceasefire, while there is no real ceasefire.”

Euronews also reported that the Israeli army says what is especially worrying is the possibility of equipping FPV drones with thermal imaging sensors, which would give them the ability to detect troops even in complete darkness.

Calibre Defence said the Trophy active protection system, installed on most Israeli heavy vehicles, has been updated to intercept drones, but that it is not clear whether this upgrade has been rolled out to the full force.

L'Orient-Le Jour framed the broader stakes by asking why Hezbollah waited so long to play this card, describing Hezbollah’s optical-fiber FPV drones as piloted from a distance of about ten kilometers and offering a first-person view of the terrain.
