Hyderabad Man Anshul Kuncha Shot Dead in North Philadelphia After Pizza Delivery

Anshul Kuncha, 28, was found with a gunshot wound to the head outside the Raymond Rosen Homes in North Philadelphia shortly after 12:30 a.m. on Friday after delivering pizza boxes to an apartment inside the complex.

Police said the delivery address was a vacant unit, and investigators discovered three pizza boxes and a delivery bag that appeared untouched inside the apartment moments after the shooting.

Chief Inspector Scott Small said, “He was lying on the ground unresponsive, bleeding heavily with a gunshot wound to his head,” and Kuncha was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators recovered three spent shell casings near the victim’s body, and authorities said the evidence indicates the shooter was standing very close to Kuncha when the shots were fired.

Investigators said Philadelphia Housing Authority surveillance footage captured portions of the incident, showing two individuals in dark clothing following Kuncha shortly before the attack.

Times Now reported that one suspect appeared to be carrying a dark backpack, while the actual shooting was not recorded on camera.

The Siasat Daily said the incident happened shortly after Friday midnight, when “our victim” delivered a pizza in a vacant house located in the Raymond Rosen Homes on the 2300 Block of the Edgley Street in north Philadelphia.

Both outlets described police obtaining the phone number used to place the pizza order as a key lead, and no arrests had been made so far.

The Siasat Daily reported that Kuncha’s younger sister suspected the killing could have been a decoy operation and urged Indians not to send their wards to the US, saying conditions were not safe for Indians living there.

She appealed for justice and asked the Indian Consulate in the US to help bring back Anshul’s body back home as early as possible.

Times Now said the motive behind the killing remains unclear and that authorities were continuing to review surveillance footage and gather evidence as they search for the suspects.

Deccan Chronicle added that detectives recovered unopened pizza boxes and Kuncha’s delivery bag from inside the building, and authorities were tracing the phone number used to place the order while examining all available evidence.
