Ceasefire reply rejected
Iran sent its response to the latest U.S. proposal to end the Iran war via Pakistani mediators on Sunday, but U.S. President Donald Trump rejected it in a social media post as “TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!”
The Iranian state broadcaster said Tehran rejected the U.S. proposal as amounting to surrender, insisting instead on “war reparations by the U.S., full Iranian sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz, an end to sanctions, and the release of seized Iranian assets.”

The U.S. proposal addressed a deal to end the war, reopen the strait and roll back Iran’s nuclear program, while Trump’s rejection included no details.
The fragile ceasefire was tested when a drone ignited a small fire on a ship off Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait reported drones entering their airspace, with the UAE saying it shot down two drones and blamed Iran.
Iran’s new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, issued “new and decisive directives for the continuation of operations and the powerful confrontation with the enemies” while meeting with the head of the joint military command, the state broadcaster reported.
Nuclear condition and threats
Iran’s response was dismissed by Trump as “totally unacceptable,” while the BBC reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the war is not over because Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium must be “taken out.”
Netanyahu told CBS’s “60 Minutes” that “There’s still enrichment sites that have to be dismantled,” and the BBC said Trump posted on Truth Social that he “I don’t like it - TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE.”

Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian said: “We will never bow our heads before the enemy, and if talk of dialogue or negotiation arises, it does not mean surrender or retreat.”
The BBC also reported that the U.S. and Israel launched a ceasefire meant to facilitate talks in February, and that it has been largely observed despite occasional exchanges of fire.
In the same reporting, the BBC said Iran warned its neighbours about complying with U.S. sanctions, with military spokesman Mohammad Akraminia telling Irna that vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz would face “severe consequences” if they did not co-operate with Tehran first.
Shipping stakes and next steps
As negotiations hinge on the Strait of Hormuz and Iran’s nuclear program, the AP said Washington’s latest proposal aimed to reopen the strait and roll back Iran’s nuclear program while Trump reiterated threats to resume full-scale bombing if Iran does not accept an agreement.

The AP reported that the U.S. military has blockaded Iranian ports since April 13, saying it has turned back 61 commercial vessels and disabled four, and that on Friday it struck two Iranian oil tankers it said were trying to breach the blockade.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guard navy said any attack on Iranian oil tankers or commercial vessels would be met with a “heavy assault” on U.S. bases in the region and enemy ships, while the U.N. nuclear agency said Iran has more than 440 kilograms (970 pounds) enriched up to 60% purity.
The BBC added that the UK’s Maritime Trade Operations Centre said a bulk carrier was “hit by an unknown projectile” about 23 nautical miles (43km) north-east of Doha in Qatar, causing a small fire but no casualties.
With the ceasefire still under strain, the BBC said defence ministers from more than 40 nations will meet on Monday to discuss UK-led plans to protect shipping in the strait, with John Healey and Catherine Vautrin co-chairing the meeting.
