Islamic Republic Carries Out Wave 37 Attacks on Gulf Arab Countries and Israel

The VOA Farsi report says the Islamic Republic carried out broad attacks on Gulf Arab countries and Israel on the evening of Tuesday, 19 Esfand, and in the early hours of Wednesday, after the IRGC announced "the start of Wave 37 operations and the deployment of composite missiles" toward Israel.

It adds that Israel reported air strikes on Iran in the early hours of today, while Iranian media reported sounds of explosions in Karaj and Tehran, especially around Mehrabad Airport, and state media reported damage to a bank building and the deaths of several of its employees during an overtime shift.

The same report says the United States reported attacks on mine depots and the destruction of 16 mine-laying vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, and that joint operations by the United States and Israel against the Islamic Republic had entered its twelfth day on Wednesday.

In Kuwait, the report says Kuwait's National Guard on Wednesday morning intercepted and destroyed eight Iranian drones after the IRGC claimed it hit the American base Camp Arifjan with at least two missiles, and it says these attacks caused no casualties.

The BBC fact-checking analysis says the U.S. Department of Defense stated that so far Iran’s attacks have killed seven U.S. service members in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia and wounded 140 U.S. service members, eight of whom are listed as “seriously wounded.”

It also says BBC’s analyses, based on satellite images from Planet, show that Iran has attacked at least 10 U.S. bases or bases where U.S. forces are stationed—in Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, and Kuwait—and that some bases were attacked multiple times with increasing levels of damage.

For Kuwait, the BBC report focuses on Ali al-Salem Air Base near the city of Al Jahra, saying Planet satellite images show that at least four points at Ali al-Salem were attacked, resulting in damage to several buildings.

The BBC report further states that Ali al-Salem Air Base hosts the U.S. Air Force’s Air Expeditionary Wing 386 and that its missions include military airlift, logistical support, missile defense, combat search-and-rescue, and medical services.

At a meeting of the Ukrainian Defense Contact Group in Berlin, the German defense minister warned that Russia "is taking advantage of the developments currently taking place in the Middle East."

The same ECCI report says Boris Pistorius and his British counterpart, Ben Wallace, expressed their desire to de-escalate in Iran and the Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, and Pistorius said, "De-escalation quickly and ending the blockade of the strait would serve our core interests."

In the Middle East conflict described by VOA Farsi, the report says Iranian drones have become a key part of retaliatory-strike strategy, and it states that most of the American personnel killed or wounded so far have been as a result of Iranian drone attacks.

Separately, Mehr News Agency describes Iran’s "Vade Sadegh 1-2-3" operations as using ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and suicide drones, and it says that in "Vade Sadegh 1" Iran fired about 170 drones, 30 cruise missiles, and more than 120 ballistic missiles toward Israel and the Golan Heights.
