Voices and competing claims
Lebanon’s civil defence agency said on Tuesday that one of its centers, in Nabatieh in southern Lebanon, had been subject to "direct targeting as a result of a hostile Israeli airstrike," and it said the building was damaged along with equipment inside.
The BBC quoted Dr Wael Mroueh, the hospital’s director, saying, "The Israeli enemy targets journalists, ambulance workers, medical staff. It makes no difference, and all it wants is to kick us out of our country," as he denied that there was a military target nearby.

The Guardian said Trump told reporters on Monday that he had stopped an imminent Israeli strike on Beirut and that he and representatives of Hezbollah agreed that "all shooting will stop," but it also said that on Tuesday Lebanon’s National News Agency reported 30 Israeli strikes across the south.
The Hindu cited a Telegram statement from the Israeli military saying that after sirens at 01:35 in several areas in northern Israel, the IAF intercepted two projectiles and that no injuries were reported.
The Guardian also reported that Netanyahu ordered strikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs, and it said Netanyahu cited Hezbollah’s "repeated violations" of a ceasefire officially in place since 17 April.
What’s at stake next
The BBC said at least 3,468 people have been killed in Lebanon since the start of the war, according to the country’s health ministry, and it said the UN reported more than one million people had registered themselves as displaced in Lebanon.
“Jerusalem (CNN) — The Israeli army said it is preparing for incoming attacks from Lebanon toward northern Israel, as its forces continue to push deeper into southern Lebanon as part of operations against Hezbollah”
The Guardian said the ceasefire arrangement between Israel and Hezbollah would support Washington’s efforts to reach a new ceasefire agreement with Iran, and it described the deal as reducing or stopping violence between Israel and Hezbollah.
The Hindu said Iran had not yet responded to a proposed final agreement with the United States aimed at ending the conflict between the two countries, and it said discussions on the final text were continuing in Tehran.
In a warning about escalation, the BBC said the Israeli military issued a fresh evacuation order for Nabatieh town on Tuesday afternoon and warned residents it was "compelled to act forcefully" against Hezbollah there because of the group’s "violation of the ceasefire agreement."
The Guardian reported that Iran’s political leadership called off all further negotiations, maintaining that a ceasefire in Lebanon was a precondition for a broader truce with the US, and it said Katz warned that if Israeli towns continue to be attacked, Israel would evacuate and strike the Shia Dahiyeh quarter in Beirut.
