Al Jazeera reported that Israeli air strikes killed at least eight people in Gaza, including two children aged 10 and 6, and said medics reported one person killed near a school in Gaza City with 12 wounded across the two incidents.

Al Jazeera also said a strike hit a tent for displaced people in the al-Mawasi area in Khan Younis, killing at least four people including a 10-year-old child, while a later death brought the Wednesday death toll to at least seven with more details not immediately available.

In the same reporting, Al Jazeera said the Israeli military “didn’t immediately comment on any of those incidents,” even as it described continued attacks despite a United States-brokered “ceasefire” in October last year.

Casualty toll and accountability

Al Jazeera said that according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza, Israeli army violations of the “ceasefire” have killed at least 1,084 people and wounded 3,491 others since the truce took effect, and it added that the overall death toll in Israel’s “genocidal war on Gaza” since October 2023 is at least 73,110 with 173,599 others injured.

Al Jazeera also reported that Israel has expanded its control of the enclave to about 11 percent beyond the so-called “Yellow Line” demarcating areas of the Gaza Strip agreed in the truce, and it said dozens of Palestinian families have been forced to leave their homes near the line.

عين ليبيا said the Israeli army and the Shin Bet announced that Ismail al-Masri, described as head of military security for Hamas’ Rafah Brigade, was killed in an airstrike carried out last Tuesday in Rafah.

عين ليبيا added that the Israeli army and Shin Bet said the operation targeted what they described as a senior Hamas security official in the city of Rafah, and it said Masri took charge during the war of the security and preventive intelligence portfolios in the Rafah Brigade.

The same عين ليبيا report said the Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza stated that four Palestinians were killed and eight others wounded in the past 24 hours as Israeli military operations continued, while rescue and civil defense teams faced “great difficulties” reaching victims trapped under rubble.

Humanitarian crisis and burial

Al-Jazeera Net described a Gaza crisis of “dwindling shrouds and full cemeteries,” saying the death toll continued to rise despite the ceasefire agreement and that three Palestinians were martyred following two airstrikes by the Israeli occupation on Gaza today, Thursday, after eight were martyred yesterday, Wednesday.

Al-Jazeera Net reported that a source in Gaza's Emergency Medical Service said one person died and others were injured after an Israeli airstrike targeted a car in the al-Rimal neighbourhood, west of Gaza City, and it said the bodies of two martyrs arrived at Nasser Hospital after an Israeli drone targeted the courtyard of a house in the Batn al-Samin area west of Khan Younis.

The report said the Gaza Health Ministry had announced on Wednesday evening the martyrdom of eight Palestinians and the injury of 17 within 24 hours, raising the toll of victims of the “genocide” committed by Israel since October 8, 2023 to 73,118.

Al-Jazeera Net quoted the supervisor of the dead-washing facilities affiliated with the Qartan Charity Association, إبراهيم إصليح, warning in an interview with Anadolu Agency that the remaining stock of shrouds in the sector will not suffice for more than a week.

It added that workers at the association’s three main mortuary washing facilities at Al-Shifa, Al-Aqsa, and Nasser hospitals have had to reduce the number of shroud pieces used for each deceased due to shortages, while emergency and civil defense crews were unable to reach some victims at this moment.
