WAFA said that on Saturday, May 2, 2026, “A Palestinian was killed and another injured” after an Israeli drone targeted “the vicinity of Al-Qastal Towers east of Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip,” reporting “one fatality and one injury at the scene.”

WAFA also cited a broader tally, saying “the overall death toll from the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza has risen to 72,608, with 172,445 reported injured, since October 7, 2023.”

Earlier, WAFA reported that on Thursday, April 30, 2026, “Three Palestinian civilians were massacred and another was seriously injured” in the Az-Zaytoun neighborhood, with the strike described as hitting “Salah al-Din Road, near the Kuwait Roundabout.”

In that April 30 account, WAFA said the attack “left three dead and one in critical condition,” and it placed the deaths “amid ongoing Israeli violations of the ceasefire in effect since October 2025.”

The same WAFA report tied the violence to the ceasefire’s stated aim, saying the ceasefire agreement aimed “to end the two-year war waged by Israel,” while also asserting that Israel “maintains restrictions on the entry of food, medicines, and relief materials into the Gaza Strip.”

The scale of the conflict was reiterated by WAFA, which said “has killed more than 72,000 Palestinians and left more than 172,000 injured since October 2023,” and it described “about 2.4 million Palestinians, including 1.5 million displaced” living in “extremely difficult humanitarian conditions.”

Ceasefire claims and violations

Palestinian media accounts framed ongoing Gaza violence as occurring despite a ceasefire that they said began in October 2025.

WAFA described the April 30 Az-Zaytoun strike as happening “amid ongoing Israeli violations of the ceasefire in effect since October 2025,” and it said the Palestinian Health Ministry reported “at least 824 Palestinians have been killed and 2,316 others wounded since the truce went into effect.”

In the same WAFA account, the ceasefire agreement was described as aiming “to end the two-year war waged by Israel, which has killed more than 72,000 Palestinians and left more than 172,000 injured since October 2023.”

WAFA also asserted that “Despite this agreement, Israel continues its military operations and maintains restrictions on the entry of food, medicines, and relief materials into the Gaza Strip,” linking the ceasefire to continued restrictions.

The agency’s description of the humanitarian situation included the population figure “about 2.4 million Palestinians, including 1.5 million displaced,” and it said they live “in extremely difficult humanitarian conditions.”

Another Palestinian weekly briefing from Agence Media Palestine described Israel’s conduct as “nearly daily attacks across the entire Gaza Strip, in clear disregard of the ceasefire agreement ratified last October.”

The same Agence Media Palestine briefing emphasized the human toll by stating “More than 21,000 Palestinian children have been killed since October 2023,” and it added “44,000 others injured,” while describing “the illegal siege of the enclave” as plunging residents “into hunger, deprivation, and violence.”

Assassinations and children

Agence Media Palestine’s weekly briefing described a sequence of killings across Gaza, including attacks on media personnel and children, while also naming specific victims and locations.

It said that on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, “the Israeli army assassinated journalist Mohammed Wishah in a drone strike against his vehicle as he was traveling along the coastal road of the city of Gaza.”

The briefing added that Wishah had been targeted by “Israeli delegitimization campaigns aimed at assassinating him since at least February 2024,” and it said the killing brought “the total number of Palestinian media professionals killed since October 2023 to at least 262, according to Al Jazeera’s tally.”

On Thursday, April 9, 2026, the briefing described “five Palestinians, including a schoolgirl, were killed in several separate attacks,” including a strike near “Al-Yemen Al-Saeed Hospital in the Jabalia refugee camp, north of Gaza.”

It named two victims from that attack as “Abdullah Mohammed Saleh, 24, and Ahmed Mohammed Saleh, 36,” and it described additional drone killings “near the Abu Hamid roundabout in central Khan Younis” and in “the Bardawil area, in Al-Mawasi, west of Rafah.”

The briefing also reported the death of “Ritaj Abdulrahman Rihan, a nine-year-old girl,” who it said was “killed by a bullet to the head while at school.”

The briefing further stated that “More than 21,000 Palestinian children have been killed since October 2023, and 44,000 others injured,” and it described “incessant attacks and the illegal siege of the enclave” as driving “hunger, deprivation, and violence.”

Police targets and checkpoints

Beyond civilian deaths, Agence Media Palestine described attacks on Gaza police forces and security checkpoints, portraying them as part of a broader pattern of violence.

It said that “Two days later, on April 11, several distinct Israeli attacks killed at least seven Palestinians across the Gaza Strip,” and it specified that “six of them” were killed in “a strike against a police checkpoint in the Bureij camp, central Gaza.”

The briefing stated that “More than 2,800 Gaza police officers have been killed since Hamas’s attacks in Israel on October 7, 2023,” and it described the police as trying “to restore security by reopening police stations.”

It asserted that the police stations are “regularly targeted by the Israeli army,” which it said “regards them as Hamas members and demands disarmament.”

The briefing added that “Many Palestinians believe that the Gaza police are the only current bulwark against crime and armed gangs supported by Israel,” linking the police to internal order.

It then described additional killings in the days that followed, saying that on Sunday, April 12, “a 48-year-old Palestinian man was shot dead by Israeli forces near the intersection of Street No. 5 and Salah al-Din Street in Khan Younis.”

On April 13, it said “three other Palestinians were killed in an attack carried out by a Israeli drone at a security checkpoint in the al-Mazraa region, east of Deir el-Balah,” and it added “another Palestinian was killed later in the day by Israeli fire in the al-Mawasi region.”

Regional escalation and aid

While the Gaza-focused reports detailed attacks and casualty figures, L’Orient-Le Jour’s live updates described parallel escalation in Lebanon and broader regional dynamics that were presented as connected to the wider conflict.

It said that “The Israeli army launched a wave of strikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut Thursday evening,” after “a massive evacuation of the targeted neighborhoods,” and it quoted Israeli minister Smotrich saying the suburb “will soon resemble Khan Younis.”

The same live update reported that “The death toll from the Israeli strikes since Monday stands at at least 123,” and it included a call from Emmanuel Macron to Benjamin Netanyahu “to 'not expand the war to Lebanon'” while outlining “an action plan for humanitarian aid and military reinforcement for Lebanon.”

It also described a statement that a strike “that killed Ali Khamenei was 'in accordance with international law,' according to the Israeli army,” and it reported that Qatar said it intercepted a drone attack against the U.S. Al-Udeid base, stating “The emir’s air-defense forces successfully intercepted a drone attack targeting Al-Udeid Air Base.”

In the same set of updates, L’Orient-Le Jour said Hezbollah published a warning in Hebrew to villages in northern Israel, writing: “You are called to evacuate all settlements located within a 5 km radius of the border line.”

The live update also described Hezbollah’s threat that “the destruction of civilian infrastructure and its displacement campaign will not go unanswered,” and it placed the warning alongside a map “recalling those circulated by Avichay Adraee, the Israeli army’s spokesperson.”

In a separate West Asian report from وكالة سبأ, the WHO was described as calling for “unfettered delivery of medicines and supplies to Gaza,” and it also stated that “The death toll from Israeli aggression in Lebanon has risen to 2,618 dead and 8,094 injured.”
