Israeli Fire Kills Six Palestinians, Including 9-Year-Old Girl, in Gaza

Israeli fire in Gaza on Sunday killed at least six Palestinians, including a 9-year-old girl, and wounded over a dozen others, according to local health officials in Deir al-Balah, Gaza Strip.

The Washington Post said a drone strike on a blacksmith shop in Gaza City’s Sabra neighborhood killed at least four Palestinians, with casualties taken to Shifa hospital.

In a separate account, The Muslim News reported that five Palestinians, including a nine-year-old girl, were killed in Israeli attacks across Gaza on Sunday as Israel continued military operations despite a ceasefire that has been in force since October 10, 2025.

The Muslim News also said the Palestinian Red Crescent Society reported two Palestinians were killed when an Israeli strike hit a workshop in the Sabra district, south of Gaza City, and that witnesses said an Israeli drone fired at least three missiles at a building housing the workshop in the Al-Rayes neighbourhood.

WRAL, citing local health officials, said Israeli gunfire killed 9-year-old Tala Abu Matar in a displacement camp in central Gaza, while an Israeli strike on a displacement tent in southern Gaza’s Khan Younis killed one Palestinian.

The Israeli military acknowledged striking the Sabra area and told WRAL it targeted “terrorist infrastructure,” without elaborating, and it later said it struck a Hamas weapon production site.

WRAL also reported that Palestinians received an evacuation order from the military following the first strikes, and that roughly an hour later intense airstrikes targeted the same blacksmith shop.

Al Jazeera said the Israeli military acknowledged striking the area and targeted “terrorist infrastructure,” and it described Tala Abu Matar dying when Israeli gunfire targeted an encampment on the eastern side of the Al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza.

The Muslim News framed the latest violence alongside regional escalation, saying Iran and the United States exchanged fresh military strikes amid escalating tensions over the Strait of Hormuz, and it quoted Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei saying the future management of shipping through the strategic waterway should be decided through consultations between Iran and Oman.

The Muslim News added that the latest violence came as Hamas leaders visited Cairo for further talks over implementing the second phase of US President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan, with discussions including Hamas disarmament and Israeli army withdrawals and “no breakthrough” yet achieved.

Multiple outlets said the attacks continued despite a ceasefire agreed in October 2025 between Israel and Hamas, with The Muslim News stating it has failed to stop Israeli attacks that have killed more than 1,000 Palestinians since it took effect.

Al Jazeera said fighting on the ground has mostly stopped since then, but Israel has continued carrying out air strikes in Gaza, killing at least 1,098 Palestinians and wounding 3,535 during the so-called ceasefire, health ministry data shows.

WRAL reported that at least 1,098 Palestinians, including at least 260 children, have been killed since the ceasefire, and it also said five Israeli soldiers have been killed in that time.

The Muslim News provided a broader tally, saying Gaza’s Health Ministry reported that 1,098 Palestinians have been killed and 3,535 injured since the ceasefire took effect last October, and that more than 73,000 Palestinians have been killed and over 173,000 wounded since Israel launched its military campaign in October 2023.

Al Jazeera said since the beginning of Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza in October 2023, the health ministry said at least 73,118 Palestinians have been killed, underscoring the scale of what it described as ongoing violence.
