The National identified the victim as Nayef Feras Samaro, 26, who “died of a gunshot wound to the head,” while also reporting that four others were injured by live ammunition, including two children, with wounds reported to the chest and pelvis.

The Palestine Red Crescent Society said around 40 people suffered from tear gas inhalation, with 10 requiring hospital treatment, and medical sources said ambulance crews treated people for gunshot injuries, including at least two children.

The raid took place in a civilian area, with troops firing tear gas and stun grenades in busy streets crowded with pedestrians and shoppers, according to witnesses cited by The National.

Al-Jazeera Net likewise reported that the Palestinian Health Ministry announced the martyrdom of Naif Firas Ziad Samaro (26) after he was “critically wounded in the head by gunfire from the Israeli army,” and said four other Palestinians were injured, including two children.

Al-Jazeera Net added that Israeli forces fired tear gas and sound grenades amid heavy traffic and active movement of pedestrians and shoppers, and said patrols stormed Nablus from the Deir Sharaf checkpoint on Asira Street.

The same raid was described as ongoing in Nablus, with Al-Jazeera Net saying it involved a raid of shops in the Ein Al-Ain Camp and on Sufyan Street in the center of the shopping mall.

Deaths and raids as routine

Beyond the Sunday Nablus raid, multiple reports described a pattern of lethal Israeli military operations in the West Bank that they portray as becoming commonplace.

Le Monde.fr recounted the death of a teenager, Abd Al-Khaliq Jabar, describing how “The third projectile struck Abd Al-Khaliq Jabar in the chest, a 16-year-old adolescent, Friday, April 25, in the mid-afternoon, in the village of Salim, 7,500 inhabitants, near Nablus, in the West Bank.”

The article said the boy fell and “he managed to crawl a few meters,” and that neighbors heard him recite his prayers twice and then murmur “mom.”

It quoted Mohammad Ussa, owner of a small garage nearby, testifying that he spoke to the soldiers in Hebrew and told them the boy needed to be taken to the hospital, but that “One of the soldiers cocked his rifle and told me to step back.”

Le Monde.fr also said that “About fifteen minutes after firing, the Israeli soldiers allowed the neighbors to provide first aid and take Abd Al-Khaliq Jabar to the hospital in Nablus,” but that the boy died en route.

The report added that “The heart was hit,” according to one of the doctors to the family.

In a separate account, Anadolu Ajansı described a Palestinian child killed during a raid on Nablus, saying local sources told the agency that the child was named Yusuf Samih Ishtiya from the town of Tell southwest of Nablus and lives in the city.

Raid details and weapons claims

The National said that raids had been taking place in Nablus for days and that the Israeli army and border police said on Friday they had uncovered a weapons factory and seized a cache of arms during an overnight operation in the area.

In a statement issued by Israeli police, the forces said they found a workshop and confiscated weapons, including “an M16 rifle, a pistol and a shotgun,” along with “a large quantity of ammunition.”

The statement also said the Israeli forces seized military equipment, including “vests, weapon parts, a combat helmet and a dagger.”

The National reported that the blaze of violence in the occupied West Bank has escalated in recent years, with frequent Israeli military raids on militant groups leading to repeated clashes, particularly in Nablus and Jenin.

In a separate report focused on a different incident near Nablus, بوابة الشروق said Israeli police said a West Bank crime-fighting unit arrested a reserve soldier suspected of firing a shot about a month earlier at Palestinian Amir Auda in the Palestinian village of Qusra near Nablus, an act that led to his death.

That report quoted the Israeli police statement saying that “on March 14 a report was received about an incident in Qusra involving gunfire; according to reports several Palestinians were injured, and one was pronounced dead,” and said the suspect was “an Israeli army soldier acting outside of his duties,” with his weapon seized and detention extended by the court until Friday.

Settler violence and prison deaths

Other reporting broadened the focus from raids to deaths attributed to armed settler groups and to deaths in Israeli prisons, while still situating the events within the same West Bank and East Jerusalem context.

Association France Palestine Solidarité said that “6 Palestinians [were] killed during the first three weeks of August,” and it provided a weekly breakdown of deaths across Nablus, Ramallah/Al-Bireh, and Jenin governorates.

It reported that “Mu’in Subhi Muhammad Asfar was killed on August 2 in Aqraba, south of the city of Nablus,” and said that “Eight Palestinians were seriously injured, most in the legs,” after “heavily armed settler groups attacked the Aqraba villa,” including that “The settlers even detonated an explosive device against the inhabitants.”

The same report said that “Suleiman Dawabsheh was assassinated in Duma ten days later,” and that Dawabsheh was “seriously injured before eventually dying on August 13, 2025.”

Association France Palestine Solidarité also described a prison death, saying that on “August 3, 2025, Palestinian prisoner-advocacy organizations announced the death of the young Ahmed Said Saleh Tazaza,” and that the “20-year-old, originally from Jenin, died in Megiddo prison.”

It stated that administrative detention meant he was imprisoned “for 3 months, without charges or trial and without Israeli justice having to justify his confinement,” and it added that “Tazaza is the 76th Palestinian to die in Israeli prisons since October 2023.”

The report further detailed an Israeli troops attack on the city of Qabatiya, saying Israeli soldiers besieged and bombed the home of Yousef Imad Ibrahim Al-Amer, and that “This 33-year-old Palestinian died in the attack.”

Escalation figures and holy sites

Several accounts tied the Nablus raid and other West Bank incidents to a broader escalation since the Israel-Gaza war began, while also describing impacts on holy sites and land.

A Palestinian man was killed and several others were wounded on Sunday after Israeli forces opened fire during a raid in the city of Nablus in the occupied West Bank, Palestinian health officials said

The NationalThe National

Anadolu Ajansı said that “Since the start of the war of annihilation in the Gaza Strip on October 8, 2023, attacks by the army and settlers in the West Bank have killed about 1,153 Palestinians and injured thousands, according to official Palestinian data.”

It also asserted that “In 1948 Israel was established on lands occupied by armed Zionist gangs that committed massacres and displaced no fewer than 750,000 Palestinians,” and that “Tel Aviv occupied the rest of the Palestinian lands, and it refuses to withdraw and to establish a Palestinian state.”

In parallel, صحيفة الخليج reported that Israeli occupation forces continued raids and incursions on Sunday, killing Naif Firas Ziad Samaru in Nablus and wounding others, while also saying “dozens of Palestinians were detained and many homes were turned into military barracks.”

That report said the Palestinian Red Crescent said its crews treated “45 injuries, including five by live bullets and 40 from tear gas inhalation,” and that “10 injuries were transferred to the city’s hospitals,” with medical sources saying the injured included “two children” and that a “21-year-old man sustained very serious head injuries.”

It also described settler actions and land measures, saying settlers uprooted “1,000 olive trees in Turmusiyya, northeast of Ramallah,” and that Israeli forces handed down a notice ordering the seizure of “11 dunams of lands in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron.”

Finally, Al-Jazeera Net framed the Nablus raid within a longer tally, saying that “Since October 2023, the assaults by the Israeli army and settlers in the West Bank have resulted in the martyrdom of no less than 1,155 Palestinians, injuries to about 11,750, and the arrest of around 22,000, according to official Palestinian data.”
