Ceasefire hopes, clashes
The Guardian said Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon killed three people, and Hezbollah said its fighters were engaged in fresh clashes with the Israeli military.
“TEL AVIV — The Israeli government was not shown the memorandum of understanding drafted to end the war with Iran, an Israeli government official told NBC News on Wednesday, the latest sign of growing tension between the United States and Israel”
The Guardian reported that Donald Trump told the US expects “a complete ceasefire on all fronts, including Lebanon, Hezbollah, and Israel,” and added on Truth Social, “We encourage everyone in the Middle East Region to maintain their commitment to allowing our negotiations to beautifully unfold.”

The Guardian also described Hezbollah saying it was fighting “a force of the Israeli enemy army that attempted to advance from the town of Arnoun towards the outskirts of Kfar Tibnit”, near Nabatieh.
In the same report, Lebanon’s National News Agency said an “enemy drone targeted a car” in Kfar Tebnit, killing two people, and another drone attack in Zebdine killed one person.
Netanyahu vs Trump
NBC News reported that the Israeli government was not shown the memorandum of understanding drafted to end the war with Iran, after President Donald Trump said he had given a copy of the MOU to Israel.
NBC News quoted Trump at the G7 summit Tuesday saying, “Without me, there would be no Israel,” and calling Netanyahu “crazy” as he used an expletive about his poor judgment.

NBC News said Trump criticized Israeli attacks in Lebanon, saying, “Too many people have been killed,” and adding, “You don’t have to knock down an apartment house every time you’re looking for somebody.”
NBC News reported that Netanyahu defended the necessity of the war with Iran but acknowledged that he had not reviewed the draft agreement, saying, “We removed, for years to come, this danger hanging over us of the elimination of Israel’s population.”
What’s at stake next
The Conversation said a memorandum of understanding between Iran and the US is due to be signed in Geneva on June 19, allowing for a 60-day ceasefire extension and the opening of the Strait of Hormuz.
“Three people have been killed in Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon, according to Lebanese state media, and Hezbollah said its fighters were engaged in fresh clashes with the Israeli military today”
The Conversation reported that the memorandum also includes Lebanon, with Iran making the signing contingent on an Israeli undertaking to withdraw from territories it has occupied in southern Lebanon during the war.
The Conversation said the US president, Donald Trump, demanded that Benjamin Netanyahu behave “more responsibly in Lebanon,” while Israel’s bombing of south Lebanon and Beirut continues and Israel’s leaders remain adamant they will not withdraw.
NBC News said Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi told reporters Tuesday that Israel’s continued attacks on Lebanon and its presence in the country violated the MOU, with fighting between Israel and Hezbollah continuing in southern Lebanon.
