Death Toll Tops 3,000
The BBC said the death toll from Israeli strikes on Lebanon has surpassed 3,000, putting it at 3,020 on Monday as the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah escalated at the beginning of March.
The BBC traced Lebanon’s entry into the war to 2 March, when Hezbollah fired rockets at Israel after an Israeli strike killed Iran's supreme leader.

The BBC said the truce extension brokered by the United States would allow Israel to carry out strikes it says are aimed at countering Hezbollah's military activity, while Lebanon condemned the attacks as undermining its efforts to re-establish the state's exclusive control over armed groups' weapons.
The BBC reported that since the ceasefire extension was announced on Friday, Israeli strikes on towns and villages across southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley have continued, killing dozens of people, and that on Saturday Hezbollah said its fighters targeted the Yaara barracks in northern Israel with a swarm of attack drones.
Hezbollah Operations, UNIFIL Deaths
القاهرة 24 said Hezbollah announced that it carried out 22 military operations in the past 24 hours in response to Israeli violations of the ceasefire in Lebanon, and it said Hezbollah continued to launch attacks against Beirut.
The same source said an Israeli military official told the Israeli Broadcasting Authority that Tel Aviv is continuing to seek ways to deal with Hezbollah drones in southern Lebanon, and it quoted the official saying the Israeli army brought to Lebanon smart targeting devices and distributed hundreds of Khanjar scopes to soldiers.

مونت كارلو الدولية reported that France requested an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council after UNIFIL personnel were killed, and it said the escalation deepened as three UNIFIL members were killed in less than 24 hours.
That report said the Israeli army announced early Tuesday that four of its soldiers were killed in southern Lebanon, and it added that the Israeli army said it has begun an investigation into the deaths of several UN peacekeepers in Lebanon, hinting that Iran-backed Hezbollah may be responsible.
Ceasefire Extension, Escalation Continues
Al Jazeera said at least 22 people were killed in Israeli attacks on Lebanon in the past 24 hours, according to the country’s Health Ministry, despite a 45-day ceasefire extension.
Al Jazeera reported that the total death toll since March 2 has reached 3,042, and it said the ministry published the figure 24 hours after reporting 3,020 deaths.
Al Jazeera described specific strikes in southern Lebanon, including an Israeli warplane levelling a home in the al-Mahfara neighbourhood of the municipality of Kfar Sir north of the Litani River, killing four people and injuring two others, and a drone attack in Harouf that killed one person and injured a municipal council member.
The same report said the Israeli military issued a forced displacement threat to residents of 12 towns and villages across southern Lebanon, including Toura, Nabatieh At-Tahta, Habbouch, Bazouriyeh, Tayr Debba, Kfar Houneh, Ain Qana, Libbaya, Jebchit, Chehabiyeh, Burj Shemali, and Houmin al-Fawqa.
