Musiala collapses again
Jamal Musiala collapsed again during Bayern Munich’s friendly against Heidenheim at the Voith Arena in Germany on Tuesday night, and the 23-year-old was diagnosed with “treatable absence seizures” after the second incident in four days.
“Musiala fell to the floor eight minutes after coming on as a substitute”
The Guardian said Musiala fell to the floor eight minutes after coming on as a substitute in Bayern’s 4-2 friendly with Heidenheim, after a similar incident during Saturday’s friendly against RB Leipzig.

In the Chosun report, Musiala “collapsed again six minutes after being substituted in the second half” of the away friendly against Heidenheim, and Bayern won 4-2.
Chosun also reported that Musiala was substituted out for Kyara eight minutes later, while the Guardian said he was replaced by Cassiano Kiala eight minutes later.
After receiving medical treatment, Musiala appeared dazed as he was escorted out of the stadium, according to Chosun, and the Guardian reported he posted on Instagram to reassure fans.
Statement and club response
Musiala used Instagram to explain that he had been diagnosed with “brief, temporary – but treatable – absence seizures resulting from a neurological dysfunction,” and he said the episodes “can lead to the kind of incidents seen recently.”
The Guardian quoted Musiala saying, “I know they might look alarming at first glance, but for me, they are currently part of my everyday life,” and it also quoted him adding, “Importantly, there is no further health risk involved.”

Bayern’s sporting director Max Eberl told reporters, “Jamal will speak about this in the near future. We knew about it and we are aware of the situation,” and the Guardian reported that Eberl moved to play down concerns soon after the game.
Chosun reported Eberl said, “We are aware of Musiala's situation. Jamal will make a statement himself. He is currently changing clothes, showering, and is in the locker room.”
The Guardian also said Musiala had come on for Ismael Saibari after 61 minutes against Heidenheim, and that he was helped off the pitch after appearing dazed as Bayern’s sporting director addressed concerns.
What comes next
The incidents raised questions about Musiala’s availability as Bayern prepared for the next match, with the Guardian describing his collapse as the second time in four days and noting he had already required medical attention after collapsing against RB Leipzig.
“with the medical clearance of the neurologists, I want to continue doing what helps my recovery most”
Chosun reported that Musiala missed the first six months of the 2025-2027 season after suffering a serious ankle injury at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, and it said he returned in the latter half of the season and participated as a member of the German national team in the CONCACAF World Cup, which concluded last month.
The Guardian said Musiala insisted there is “no long-term health risk” and added that he wanted to continue doing what helps his recovery most, “with the medical clearance of the neurologists.”
Chosun reported that Musiala had been treated for a “temporary seizure linked to condition,” and it said he had collapsed during a friendly match against Leipzig in Munich on August 15, when he was reported to have complained of dizziness due to the hot weather.
With Bayern’s 4-2 win over Heidenheim in place, the Guardian reported that Musiala’s statement followed the match and that Bayern won with Felipe Chávez, Arijon Ibrahimovic, Luis Díaz and Nathaniel Brown on target.
