The BBC said the 24-year-old Sinner completed the full set of nine ATP Masters 1000 titles known as the ‘career Golden Masters’ after beating Norway’s Casper Ruud in the Rome final.

USA Today reported that on Sunday, May 17, Sinner became the first Italian in 50 years to win the Italian Open, and it said he arrived at Roland-Garros next week on a 29-match winning streak dating back to March.
Sky Sports said Sinner extended his winning streak to 29 matches and that his most recent defeat had come against Jakub Mensik in the Qatar Open quarterfinals on February 19.
Flashscore added that Sinner heads into Roland Garros, which starts next weekend, on a 29-match winning streak after beating Ruud for a fifth time in as many meetings.
Quotes and rivals
Sinner described the final as tense, saying, "There was a lot of tension you know, on both sides and (it) was not perfect, perfect tennis from both of us," after winning in Rome.
In the same match, Sinner said, "I'm really, really happy, it's been an incredible last two-and-a-half months," as he celebrated the Golden Masters.

Sky Sports quoted Sinner saying, "Incredible," and added that he said, "It's been a long time since an Italian won - 50 years."
Flashscore reported Ruud joked about the comparison to football, saying, "I know that in football it's a different story," as he spoke to reporters afterwards.
The BBC framed the achievement by noting that Novak Djokovic is the only other man to achieve the feat, while it quoted Sinner saying, "I'm really, really happy - it's been an incredible last two and a half months."
Roland-Garros stakes
After the Rome win, the BBC said all roads now lead to Roland Garros, where Sinner can create even more history at the upcoming French Open, which starts next Sunday.
“World number one Sinner has now completed the 'Golden Masters' by winning all of the ATP's top-ranked events after becoming the first Italian champion at the Foro Italico since Adriano Panatta 50 years ago”
USA Today said Carlos Alcaraz was not playing the clay-court Grand Slam due to a wrist injury, and it called Sinner the overwhelming French Open favorite.
Sky Sports said Sinner is now 17-0 on clay this year entering the French Open, and it noted that the tournament starts next Sunday.
Tennis Majors said Roland-Garros begins in a fortnight and that the only piece of silverware left for Sinner’s trophy case lacks only the Roland-Garros title and Olympic gold among the major prizes in the sport.
ATP Tour said Sinner completed the Career Golden Masters on Sunday at the Internazionali BNL d'Italia in Rome after defeating Casper Ruud in the final at the Foro Italico.
