Hamilton tops sprint pole
Lewis Hamilton took pole position for the sprint race at the British Grand Prix for Ferrari at Silverstone, beating the Mercedes of Kimi Antonelli into second and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen into third.
“- Record crowds expected as five British drivers line up at iconic Silverstone circuit DUBAI: Mohammed Ben Sulayem, president of the FIA, has committed to delivering the return of V8 engines to the FIA Formula One World Championship ahead of this weekend’s Pirelli British Grand Prix”
Hamilton said, “I love this place, I love this crowd, and I can’t express to you how big a dream it is,” after claiming pole with a time of 1 minute 28.376 seconds.

The Guardian also said Antonelli leads the world championship by 40 points from teammate George Russell and 46 ahead of Hamilton, with Russell fifth in sprint qualifying.
The same report noted that Hamilton’s pole came by 11 thousandths of a second over Antonelli, while Verstappen was a full three-tenths back and Charles Leclerc was fourth for Ferrari.
The BBC framed the Sunday outlook around Antonelli’s pace and Hamilton’s warning that “If we are not able to get him on the first lap, he will just disappear into the distance.”
AI forum at Silverstone
Aston Martin hosted a Technology Forum centred on AI in the middle of its home British Grand Prix, bringing together 10 partners at its Silverstone-based factory on Friday.
Aston Martin team boss Adrian Newey said, “What we're doing is using AI and machine learning in very specialised roles that don't rely on the internet at all.”

The Race reported that Aston Martin transfers around 1.5TB back and forth with its Mission Control base in its Silverstone factory every race weekend, with only a 0.2 second delay.
The same forum coverage said a typical F1 engine control unit (ECU) performs 43 trillion calculations every race, and that Aston Martin’s control systems can have 4000–5000 set-up parameters being tweaked.
Eric Ernst added, “we can't outsource the experience,” describing the team and people as the source of that experience while AI helps with cognitive scalability.
Crowd, V8 plans, and stakes
The BBC said a record crowd of close to 180,000 people is expected to cram into Silverstone for the British Grand Prix on Sunday, while The Independent put the weekend attendance at over 565,000.
“Hamilton returns home wearing red: Silverstone awaits the idol with a new story to write”
The Independent said England Women will bid for a rare victory against old foe Australia in the T20 World Cup final at Lord’s, and that Brazil face Norway in their World Cup knockout match in New York.
Mohammed Ben Sulayem, president of the FIA, committed to delivering the return of V8 engines ahead of the Pirelli British Grand Prix, saying, “I am committed to delivering the return of V8 engines to the FIA Formula One World Championship.”
The Arab News report also said the FIA president will be in attendance at Silverstone and that the circuit hosted the first FIA Formula One World Championship race in 1950.
With Hamilton seeking to extend his record of home wins to 10 in his 20th race at Silverstone, the BBC said he was not optimistic about catching Antonelli if the Mercedes is “flat-out quicker.”
