OKX Card in Europe
OKX announced the European launch of the OKX Card in Malta, positioning it as a way to make daily crypto payments directly in stablecoins where Mastercard is accepted. The Business Wire release says the card enables “des paiements directs en stablecoins partout où Mastercard est acceptée, sans frais” and offers “jusqu'à 20 % de récompenses” on eligible purchases. OKX said the card supports contactless payments and that stablecoins remain in the user’s portfolio until the moment of purchase, converting automatically during payment. The company also tied the launch to Mastercard’s network, stating the card is designed to meet “les normes réglementaires les plus avancées d’Europe.”

Fees, rewards, and licensing
OKX’s card model is described as using OKX Pay for funding, with payments processed through Mastercard and settlement in euros while merchants receive fiat currency. The OKX Card explainer says it offers “no transaction fees or FX fees” and applies a “0.1% market spread” during conversion, while also stating there are no issuance, monthly, annual, or inactivity fees. CoinDesk reported that OKX obtained a Payment Institution (PI) license in Malta, aligning with EU regulatory requirements taking effect in March 2026, and said the license enables continued stablecoin payment services “in full compliance with MiCA and PSD2.” In the same CoinDesk coverage, OKX Europe CEO Erald Ghoos said the license ensures OKX Pay and OKX Card “operate within a fully compliant framework.”
Early spending patterns
OKX also released transaction data for the OKX Card’s first month across the European Economic Area, covering settled purchase transactions between Jan. 28 and Feb. 26, 2026. CoinCentral said grocery stores and supermarkets accounted for 26% of all OKX Card transactions during the review period, while restaurants and fast food combined for an 18% share. The company’s spokesperson described the dataset as reflecting “the majority of daily spending behaviors and any high-value outliers,” and said it excluded peer-to-peer transfers. Separately, crypto.news reported that OKX Card users spent most of their crypto on groceries, dining, and other routine purchases, adding that food-related spending including groceries, restaurants, and fast food represented 44% of European transactions.
