The Police Service of Northern Ireland said it received a report at around 8.25am on Tuesday, 12th May, and believed the assault took place at around 4.45am, when a number of intruders entered an apartment building and attacked another male before making off.

Gordon was taken to hospital after the assault and later died on Saturday, according to police, as detectives continued to examine the circumstances of what happened.

Two people arrested in connection with the investigation—a 24-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman—were released on bail to allow for further police enquiries, while PSNI said it would continue to work at pace to seek others who may be involved.
