Offerings at Al-Aqsa
For the first time since the occupation of Jerusalem in 1967, six settlers stormed the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque on Friday evening carrying "bread offerings" after assaulting two of the mosque's guards, according to وكالة صدى نيوز.
“The Al-Aqsa Mosque was today, on Friday, subjected to an incursion described by the Jerusalem Governorate as 'dangerous and unprecedented,' after nine settlers entered its courtyards with 'plant-based offerings' known as 'bread offerings,' in an incident the governorate said was the first of its kind since the city was occupied in 1967”
The Jerusalem Governorate said the settlers forcefully entered through the Al-Ghawanima Gate and reached the area surrounding the Dome of the Rock, coinciding with widespread incitement from extremist "Temple" groups on the occasion of the so-called Hebrew "Feast of Weeks."

وكالة سبأ reported that nine settlers stormed al-Aqsa Mosque compound through the Al-Ghawanimah Gate, assaulted al-Aqsa guards, and reached the Dome of the Rock courtyard carrying "bread offerings" as a dangerous precedent unprecedented since the occupation of al-Quds in 1967.
Al-Jazeera Net said the incursion occurred during the Asr prayer, when the courtyards were crowded with worshippers, women and children, and it said Israeli police later intervened to remove the settlers after guards were injured while attempting to prevent them from advancing.
Al-Jazeera Net also reported that during the incursion the settlers managed to bring plant-based offerings linked to what is called the 'Festival of the Descent of the Torah,' consisting of pieces of bread stained with blood used in Jewish religious rites.
Tension, injuries, and fear
Al-Jazeera Net said a mood of calm, cautiousness prevailed after the settlers were driven out of the courtyards, but it also said the intrusion sparked fear among worshippers, especially as the group reached the forecourt near the Dome of the Rock.
It added that the group entered suddenly and quickly from the Bab al-Gwanamah gate in the northwestern corner of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and it said two of the mosque guards were injured while attempting to prevent the settlers from advancing inside the courtyards after being assaulted.

In a separate account, وكالة سبأ said two al-Aqsa Mosque guards were injured after being assaulted by settlers during the storming of the mosque this evening, and it said the governorate described the incident as "a dangerous precedent unprecedented since the occupation of al-Quds in 1967."
Al-Jazeera Net reported that the incursion came days after calls by extremist Jewish groups known as Temple Organizations urged settlers to intensify the incursions, and it said usual settler incursions typically go through the Gate of the Moroccan Quarter (Bab al-Maghariba) under Israeli police protection and at specific daytime hours.
It further said the usual pattern rarely includes Fridays and Saturdays, making this Friday’s intrusion different in timing, entry method, and the nature of the materials brought into the mosque.
Warnings and future escalation
Palestinian warnings of a new escalation at the Al-Aqsa Mosque were tied to the Jewish "Feast of Weeks" (Shavuot), with Life News saying Jerusalem affairs researcher Ziad Abuhaysh warned of anticipated intrusions on Friday, May 22, even though settler incursions into Al-Aqsa typically do not occur on Fridays.

It added that Abu Aish warned of incursions on the occasion of the Feast of Weeks on Friday, May 22, and it quoted him warning: “We are facing rituals of gnawing and substitution more than rituals related to the unseen or the afterlife.”
